Lying in the sunny spots
So snuggly and warm
I was so cold and tired. I just wanted to lie down. I crawled away from the place on the living room floor where the boys and I had been playing, and went over to my sunroom to curl up in a sunny spot. These days of winter are especially harsh on me when the sun refuses to show itself. I think I could manage the arctic temperatures and the mountains of snow if we just got a bit of sun once and a while.
This day, the sun was making an appearance, and I didn't want to miss it. It felt so good on my back and sent warm tinglies all the way up to the top of my head. My mood immediately improved. The boys must have heard me purr because just like that they all came over and curled up with me. We lay there for quite a while together. And it was lovely. My heart took a snapshot and filed it away in my mind's vault under "favorite moments".

Snuggly yous ... and a great haiku.
:)
Isn't the sun wonderful? Our winters aren't so cold as yours, but they ARE generally overcast and dark. We, too, have been so thankful that we've had some sunshine lately.
Thank you for stopping by my blog. :)
:o) Very nice. Living in FL my whole life, I think I'd get severe SAD if I lived anywhere else.
aww that is so sweet :) The sun always brightens my day too - I hate it when it's been grey for a while, I get so depressed :S
Your kids will remember stuff like this when they're older. Aren't you a great mom?? (:
great ku... and what cuddly kittens. hope for more sun for you and yours
This was great. I love the snuggle and warm place in the sun - a day doesn't get much better than that!
That's the best!
I had to actually run back in the house for sun glasses the other day and trust me...I am NOT complaining!
Last winter when I was pregnant, any moment there was sun in out sunroom, I was laying out there. There was only one little square of sun that would fall on the futon and that is were my face was, soaking it up, imagining the warmth.
With the sun out the other day it was such a teaser. Now I am like a little kid waiting for Disney...I can't wait for spring, spring break and out trip to Florida! It just can't get here fast enough!
Have a wonderful weekend Kathryn!
What a lovely memory shared beautifully. I wish you many sunny days soon!
Hugs and blessings,
I love laying on the floor...in the sun.
Wow. How splendid is that moment? Extremely!!
I have the best memories of lying in sunbeams when I was a kid! I remember how they made me feel so warm and safe! Great memory. Great 'ku!
This is a beautiful, beautiful post!
That is so sweet. Sometimes it's the little things that make our day!

The sunshine can be so uplifting after a season of gray clouds. Beautiful post.
I can almost feel the sun through that picture. Beautiful!
That is just adorable....as always!
We are finally hitting the 30's this weekend after negative temps! It is a freaking heat wave! I'm with you girl...winter needs to be gone!
Old man winter needs to know that I have flying monkeys, and I ain't afraid to use them on his frigid butt!!!
"My heart took a snapshot" ...I love that line!!
That was a fantastic haiku. What a beautiful moment you captured.
Such a cute picture! Your 'ku made me want to curl up on the couch with a book.
No sun here though.
What a cute picture of you guys!
I am a big believe in the power of sunlight (of course I live in the South, so...)

What an amazing memory. Cool picture too.
Oh so sweet! I love to lay in the sun on the floor when I get cold, too! Never got the kids to do it with me, though!
We're in snowy, freezing MN, so I agree with you ... take those warm patches of sun shine whenever you can get them, even through the window.
Thanks for a great haiku!
You're really in that pile? This gave me the warm fuzzies-- I want to cuddle with mine now.
Oh, I do love a nice sunny spot with the babies!
aww! That is so sweet and what a great shot!
It's snowing hard here today...so nice to stop here for a bit of sun today :)
I LOVE this tale. Kat, your boys are so adorable. But this shot, this shot is a framer.
Have a good weekend and stay warm, k? Get ready for the next big storm. Yay us.
I grew up in the Midwest (down South now)...no one down here understands the deliciousness of that warm, yummy, sunny spot on the floor on a cold day...
Great memory with your boys!
Laying in the sunshine with your boys around you. Sounds totally heavenly. What a good way to relieve stress!
I just love this post. I'm a sunshine junkie this time of year, too.
Awwww I just love good times like that! So fun! :)
Happy weekend!

Those 3 surely adore you. I love how your kittens cuddle. Have a great weekend with all your men folk.
Sweet post - you look so comfy it makes me want to curl up with you!
Love this!
How cute is your pic?
Isn't the sun just the best when it finally peeks through the winter clouds? Our leather couch gets super warm as well, and I can't sit in that spot long enough.
Have a great weekend!
life doesn't get much sweeter. glad you have a picture to always remember that moment. :)

SEE?!? I TOTALLY need a third child. My litter is short a kitten. (Or is that a euphemism for me being out of my freakin' mind? Not sure.)
Aw, they're like heat seeking missles arent they.. ;-D
Here...have some warm weather. Maybe I can store some up from summer for you...:)
wow...so great that you have a picture of that great moment!
I had to stop by and get to know you after reading your many comments on my friend Elaine's blog. Stop by to meet me!

Oh, this is beautiful. So poetic. I love it. Love the picture so much, too. :) And, yeah, we all need a sunspot these days -- harshest winter ever.... At least the polar bears are happy (and that makes me happy!)
Aww... great photo!
And I totally hear ya on the sun thing -- I go crazy without it!
I am ready for the sun, too. That is a really cute photo!
