Dad's Love

Your trust in me gave me confidence.

Your abundance of compliments gave me self esteem.

Your belief in my abilities gave me drive.

Your amusement at my spunk and independence made me feel I could do anything.

Your acceptance and support of all my decisions made me trust myself.

Your attendance at each and every play, game, musical, and concert made me feel important.
You laughed at all of my silly jokes and sarcastic quips.

You didn't bat an eye when I wore baggy jeans, your old flannel shirts, and combat boots, and insisted I was model material even in my most hideous phases.

When my heart was broken you wanted to break his face and told me over and over again how stupid a man must be to let me go.

Your love for me showed me that I was worthy of love.

You shaped who I am.

You live on through me.

And it is no surprise, no coincidence, that I married a man so undeniably similar to you.

And I know that he will be just as influential, just as loving, just as wonderful a father to her as you were to me. And, like me, she will grow up knowing one of the most powerful loves there is.
Thank you.
Happy Father's Day.
I love you.

I know how very much you're missing your father today. I'm sorry he won't be her to share it with you, but of course he's always with you. This is a beautiful tribute to that.

What a great post about a great dad. I feel the same way about my dad, and my step-dad. Dad is gone, and my step-dad is still with us, but not doing well.

Thank you for posting this!

Your post made me cry. I know exactly what you mean about your Daddy. Our Daddies sounded very similar.

Take care today!

And that last pic with Grace and your hubby? So beautiful.

Wonderful, wonderful post.
I’ve enjoyed looking over your blog. I came across it through another blog I follow, and I’m glad I did. I am now a follower of yours as well. Feel free to look over my blog and perhaps become a follower as well.

Thanks so much for the visit and even more for the gracious comment. Here's hoping you'll become a follower and somehow my blog could be a blessing to you and at the same time...glorify Him.

hi there... i got navigated here from Stan's blog, about you blog I would say, it's really a blog about the "everyday lives" we all live and your words really warmed my heart as your described your father's potential as well how you made yourself connected with him in a manner that your hubby acts like your dad!

Father is one word which is often taken lightly when we compare it with Mother.. but once we understand the actual fact.. then he's the one who brings us to reality.

a father minutely observes his children, and secretly admire his wife, passionately love and live for his family.

Can we females ever forget the main part a male plays in our lives?
never

Words To Live By

Be grateful for each new day.
A new day that you have never lived before.
Twenty-four new, fresh, unexplored hours to use usefully and profitably.
We can squander, neglect, or use them.
Life will be richer or poorer by the way we use today.
Finish every day and be done with it.
You have done what you could;
some blunders and absurdities crept in;
forget them as soon as you can.
Tomorrow is a new day.
You shall begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be
encumbered with your old nonsense.

-Ralph Waldo Emerson
