PSF- A Time To Whine

PhotoStory Friday
Hosted by Cecily and MamaGeek

I can barely move. My back is having little spasms. I am sore. I am tired. I just want to curl up in one of the three massive piles of leaves I raked yesterday and go to sleep.
I feel like I have been raking all week. Well, I suppose I kind of have been. But yesterday was a massive overhauling of raking. I had to hurry to get the yard cleaned up so that I could get my piles into the street in time for the vacuum trucks to come by and pick them up. And now one day later I am still waiting for the trucks and watching as the leaves slowly get blown back into my yard. Ugh. I don't think I have it in me to go back out there and rake again.
After all the raking yesterday I went for a 5 mile run. It probably wasn't the best idea but I am trying to get ready for the 10K race I signed up for on Thanksgiving Day. Todd will be gone for a whole week before Thanksgiving so I will not be able to run outside while he is gone and I have to take my opportunities when I can. This was my first run this week because Todd has been working from early morning until late at night every day for the past few weeks. It has been kind of crazy around here.
And now? I'm exhausted. And sore. Did I mention my back hurts? Oh yeah, and I'm tired. But this weekend is no time for relaxation. It is go, go, go. But AFTER that? Oh wait, nope. No relaxation there either. I have to bake cookies and make treats for Todd to take up to deer camp. And after THAT? Well, it is just me and the boys for a whole week. But AFTER THAT? Well, maybe THEN I'll be able to relax.
(Doesn't that just look so comfy?)

I vote taking the cue from the kid and crashing out in the leaves for just a bit. :) Hang in there.

I hear you girlfriend. I've got a nap penciled in for the day after Christmas.

Try to grab a minute or two for yourself...I know that's not easy...but you need it and you deserve it.

Is he really sleeping in the leaves?? That would be impressive if he was!

Having hubby gone for a week can be exhausting without throwing in an aching back and all too. Hang in there and try to find time to relax this weekend! Easier said than done I know.

You ARE a wee-bit nuts to go running after raking! I need to rake. Maybe it will be dry this weekend....

The only bad part of this year - it never does seem to slow down till at least mid January. I hope you get a little rest and feel better. But good for you for all that you got accomplished. We have leaves on the to do for this weekend. I just hope it dries up a bit for it.

You need some Merlot!!

Or a hot date with Captain Morgan!

Kat said...

Candy- HAHAHA!!! I actually had some Captain last night. It helped a little, but today I'm relying on my old friend, Ibuprofin. ;)

Oh goodness! You will be awfully busy won't you? I hope you find time to rest at some point in there.

And yes, the leaves look mighty comfy!

Is that adorable child really asleep? I was going to say Advil but see you got that. So how about a hot bath with Epsom salts in it? Really does work wonders even if it is an old fashioned remedy.
It must be nice to be so young a full of pep as my grandma used to say.

Is he actually sleeping? Whoa. I'm sorry it's such a lousy day for you, dear. Todd owes you a vacay.

I must say that there are some perks to living in an apartment. :)

I hope you feel better soon. Would yoga help?

You make treats for deer camp???? The most I do is clean up after J makes his huge batch of chili and guilt him about being gone for a whole week.
I hope your back feels better soon.

Life is busy, isn't it??

You have a truck that comes and picks up the leaves (or is supposed to)? We could totally use one of those around here! I've never heard of that! Well, unless you call it the garbage truck.

Sounds like you should be the one in that picture! What kind of run are you doing on T-Day? Turket Trot?

Oh my! I hope you feel better soon! Why don't you just go lay down on the leaves with your cute son on there it looks so comfy!

Elaine- The city we live in has sweeper trucks, sucker (vacuum) trucks and dumper trucks that go around the city and collect the leaves. Then they are used for compost instead of just getting dumped.

And no. Tommy wasn't really asleep in those leaves though he did stay like that for quite a while. ;)

It actually looks a bit itchy. I hope you feel better. Maybe a long bath after bedtime?

Oh he is so sweet in that pile of leaves. I feel your raking pains. The leaves are so nice, until they blow everywhere.

I hope you feel better soon. Back pain and hubby working late are an awful combo. *hugs*

I don't like that feeling either, when I'm tired and sore, and the next few weeks look like nothing but busyness. I hope you're able to find some time to just relax. Adorable picture!

Hope your aches and pains go away and hopefully you can rest up. Way to go on the run after all of that raking.

Running 5K and raking leaves??? I would not be able to move for a week!

Hang in there.

Yes, it does look comfy. Actually, it makes me want to go to bed right now... I think I will lol...Hope the yard stays a little clean for you!!!

I have a bit more to do myself - for about the next 2 months as my neighbor's tree continues to dump on my lawn. *sigh* It's not her fault. She's a renter. But man...it's okay the first time you rake, and then it just becomes such a chore! Maybe you should bed down like your son did? ;-)

Peace - D

Oh hang in there Kat.

BTW. What is "deer camp?"

Wow. A run AFTER raking leaves. My back hurt just reading this. Hope the run goes well. Keep us posted and then go eat some turkey and take a nap.

You'll be relaxing any soon, after all nothing really happens in December.
The leaves are a lot of fun...except the raking. If you were close by, I'd loan you my blower -- it's one of the big ones that make you look like a Ghostbuster. I got it just in time to move to a house with hardly any leaves.

Laura said...

Oh my you sound so busy...try to make time for you!

Raking always leaves a mark!

That is great you are doing a race. After reading your running stories and a few others I took the plunge - I am working up to being able to run 5-6KM by Feb - then I have joined the Feb Running Room program to build up to 10KM and I will run that after the program - I am thinking in May. I am pretty excited! thank you for encouraging me by your efforts!

Hey - I put a link to your site from my site today! It's day 15 - half way there!

OHMommy- HAHA! Deer camp is where the boys (well, men, I suppose) stay up north in the big woods (usually at my in-law's cabin) for the week they are deer hunting. I suppose they call it camp because men used to have to camp out when they went deer hunting back in the day. Today, however, deer camp is more like a week long vacation/card playing/good food eating/bull talking/hunting trip.

You need to listen to your back. It's telling you to kick back!

Karin said...

Oh no, you have far too much energy! Go curl up under the leaves already!

I need to know more about these "vacuum trucks". Do you think the driver would take 20 bucks to back the truck up to my yard and just suck away?

Bren said...

Raking and running! I'm impressed! After his week long vacation, I mean hunting trip, Todd owes you a spa day at least.

Cute shot!

Words To Live By

Be grateful for each new day.
A new day that you have never lived before.
Twenty-four new, fresh, unexplored hours to use usefully and profitably.
We can squander, neglect, or use them.
Life will be richer or poorer by the way we use today.
Finish every day and be done with it.
You have done what you could;
some blunders and absurdities crept in;
forget them as soon as you can.
Tomorrow is a new day.
You shall begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be
encumbered with your old nonsense.

-Ralph Waldo Emerson
