Hoping For The Best

Oh peace come to me
On the rushing, crashing wind
Of a crisp fall day
*****
All too soon it's gone
Rich colors turning to white
Winter upon us
*****

We are making the trek up north to the in-law's cabin again this weekend. It should be interesting. The boys have been in rare form lately. Lots of fighting, whining, crying, and sassing going on. Add to that the fact that Todd and his dad will be going out scouting the woods for deer sign sans boys and you can see this could possibly be disastrous.
*
I'll try and keep them outside as much as possible but the weather is supposed to be very cold with possibilities of snow. Which I know the boys will love but probably will not be able to handle for long periods of time. We'll see.
*
Just in case, I am taking along their favorite toys, books, and movies. And despite all that may be stacked against me I am planning on having a wonderful weekend. I am even bringing some new library books up for myself to read next to the fire as the boys nap (PLEASE!).
*
Either way, you'll hear of the lovely or disastrous weekend when we get back on Sunday! Hope you all have a wonderful one!

Sorry for the little stars in the post. Blogger is being a big greasy turd and it won't space anything. The only way I could get some space in there was to add a little star.
Have a good weekend everyone! :)

::sigh::...a book by the fire while they nap...that sounds incredible. Have a great time!

Oh...and I know what you mean about spacing...I had to get into the html and play with that to get mine to work...but your description AND your stars are much more entertaining than mine! ")

How fun! I am sure the boys will be good and hopefully be worn out with the possible snow and being outside. I love cold, cuddly weekends!

Well, I'll be praying you have a WONDERFUL weekend!! Glad you brought that new library book along -- that's positive thinking. : )

p.s.
I've resorted to "stars" at times when Blogger ignores my valiant please for some space.

Enjoy your weekend. I hope that everyone is well behaved on the trip and they leave their attitudes at home.

And will you be blogging while away?

I am hoping for the best for you. Sometimes the trips you go into with low expectations end up being the best.

My kids have been in "rare form" this past week as well...I'm blaming it coming down from the sugar rush of Halloween. ;) I hope you have a great weekend at the cabin.

Beautiful haiku, and I'm hoping the weekend is just perfect. Mmm, reading by the fire. Add hot chocolate, and it's heaven.

Funny how you can put lovely poetry and the words "greasy turd" in the same post...

Happy weekend to you, drive safe!

Here's hoping your weekend is nothing short of wonderful.
Or as wonderful as it can be while you are in the woods with three small boys and the possiblity of snow.
Here's hoping!!

I hope you have a wonderful weekend. Our's already isn't looking too good, and it's still Friday. Way too much fighting and crying and ignoring of the parents going on right now. I think this cold weather is going to take some getting used to.

Kids around here - school, home, other schools - everywhere have been in rare form. Something in the air? All over the place?

I feel for you...I will be losing my mind this week coming up....for the WHOLE WEEK... Hunting for a WHOLE WEEK. I want to do something without my family or guilt (because you KNOW they feel none!)for a WHOLE week*!*

Words To Live By

Be grateful for each new day.
A new day that you have never lived before.
Twenty-four new, fresh, unexplored hours to use usefully and profitably.
We can squander, neglect, or use them.
Life will be richer or poorer by the way we use today.
Finish every day and be done with it.
You have done what you could;
some blunders and absurdities crept in;
forget them as soon as you can.
Tomorrow is a new day.
You shall begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be
encumbered with your old nonsense.

-Ralph Waldo Emerson
