Down For The Count

I hurt my knee again. AGAIN! One week before I'm supposed to run my 10K. WHY??? I have no idea how I injured it this time. I suppose it could have still been touchy since the last time I injured it. I don't know, but it really hurts.

I know it isn't a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but it pisses me off. I don't often get to compete in 10K races because I am always pregnant or nursing, so when I finally do get in shape again and all the cards fall in to place I want to take advantage when I can. This just sucks. I am really pissed. The last time I hurt my knee I had to stop running for a month before it healed. Did I mention that I am a little pissed about this? Suckity, suck, suck, suckage.

I know I haven't been around to your blogs much lately. I beg you to be patient with me. It has been craziness around here. And now on top of everything else I have to keep my knee iced and elevated so that there is a snowball's chance in hell I might be able to run next week. Unfortunately, my friggin granny knee hurts just sitting at this desk (WHY don't I have a LAPTOP???????) so I have to get back to my couch. I promise I will be around to see you all soon. "Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but soon- and for the rest of your life."* Oh wait, what?

In the meantime, keep your fingers crossed that I'm just down and not out.

-I think I'm done whining now.
-Sorry.

*Casablanca, people! Sheesh.

Oh pooor you! Could it be miniscus (SP??) - this impacts my hubby and hurts like heck and stops him from running. Good luck - hope you feel better soon.

I feel your pain...I've lost track of all the knee surgeries and physio I've had on mine...

I sincerely hope it's not too serious... but take it easy for a while and give it some time to heal.

"Suckity, suck, suck, suckage." You are *the* poet my friend. I know you're upset...but obviously that knee of yours is trying to tell you something...didn't you just say you needed a rest? I know...feel free to smack me at anytime.

I had a lot of posts to catch up on since I was gone for so long and then took a break from my break, but read them all I did!

I really wish knees were quick fixes, but sadly they're not. I hope you get to run in your 10k.

NO FUN!!! Hope it gets better soon!

Take care of that knee now -or you'll end up later in life with more problems than you can shake a stick at!
Hope it heals well enough for you to do the "run" though as you've really worked hard to get yourself ready for that.

Oh, that is suckity, suck, suck!

I have bad knees, so I just don't run. If/when I do, they hurt immediately and I have to load up on ibuprofen and ice.

I sure hope it heals super, duper fast!!

That absolutely stinks!! I hope your knee heals quickly so you can race. Isn't your hubby out of town too?? I hope you have help getting around and taking care of the kiddos. Take care.

Whine away! I am so sorry. Hope you heal soon.

If that happened to me I would whine too. Hope it heals quickly.

I'm sorry!
If it makes you feel any better, when I climb the stairs it sounds like popcorn popping! (I've become the lady I used to make fun of as a teen for being old!)

That does suck. I'm sorry, Kat. And, you really do need to get a lappy. It makes life MUCH easier.

yuck! feel well soon!

he chuckles at his thought. ever consider, kat, that your body is trying to tell you to treat it in a sane manner and that running in one of those races is a case of insanity. :)

My favorite quote is "I am shocked, I say shocked to find gambling going on here." "Here are your winnings, sir." Cracks me up every time.

That's horrible! It's o.k. to whine once in awhile. ;) Especially about an ouchie knee. I hope it heals quickly.

I really hope you heal soon. You deserve a laptop -- AT LEAST!
Oh, and bravo for the subtle Casablanca reference!
This could be the start of ...oh never mind.

rats, well i do hope it's just a minor blip and you'll still be able to run the race.

HOPE you are feeling better soon. MY Hubs is running Saturday but right now he has the worst cough ever. He was really looking forward to this run. Take CARE!

Oh no. I'm really sorry to hear! Take it easy and take care of yourself. Knee injuries are so frustrating and painful.

you and my hubby would make a great gimpy pair.

hope you heal soon!

I know how frustrating it is to get injured at the end. I got a hairline fracture in the bottom of my right leg on the 16th mile of a 16 mile run about 3 weeks before I was supposed to run a marathon. What a bummer!

THAT was whining? Gosh no wonder people have stopped reading my blog.
You know, I am a firm believer in the "things happen for a reason" theory and maybe you are just supposed to not run because something really terrific is going to happen and you need to be home. Sorry, I'm trying that "glass half full thing". I know, I'll stop. Sorry Kat!

Karen MEG said...

Oh no, that's too bad... you must be so disappointed (and need to be reminded of that by me, sorry).

Take care of that knee; I am not a runner by any means, so I really admire you for even THINKING of running a 10k. But it's important it heals, you know, for the next time.

Hang in there!!! And you deserve a laptop ... maybe hint at the hubs (that's how I got mine, well, I didn't hint, I sorta said "I want a laptop for Christmas" LOL!)

Oh honey, I'm sorry. I really am. And it's SO ok to whine if you want. I would be doing the same thing! Trust me. I hope and pray that you can do your run. So, don't worry about not visitng us, K? Just get better. And of course, keep us "posted!" ; )

That bites! I'm so sorry about your knee.

I am hoping that since I am in the middle of the worst computer situation, that your knee already feels better!!

Hears to very quick healing coming your way! :)

Words To Live By

Be grateful for each new day.
A new day that you have never lived before.
Twenty-four new, fresh, unexplored hours to use usefully and profitably.
We can squander, neglect, or use them.
Life will be richer or poorer by the way we use today.
Finish every day and be done with it.
You have done what you could;
some blunders and absurdities crept in;
forget them as soon as you can.
Tomorrow is a new day.
You shall begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be
encumbered with your old nonsense.

-Ralph Waldo Emerson
