Quite the Spectacle

Big Packer game tonight people. Big. Yes, I know it is just a preseason game but we Packer fans take our football seriously. Every year the Packers have a Family Night where you can buy tickets to come and watch a scrimmage for just a few bucks. The stadium is sold out every year. For a scrimmage! And this game? Well. I think we all know how important this game is. All eyes are on the Packers and on Aaron Rodgers.

You couldn't pay me enough to be Rodgers right now. The pressure must be insane. I just hope he does well, for his own sake. If anyone deserves success right now it is Rodgers. He has been level headed and gracious throughout this whole media circus and I hope it feeds his hunger for the game.

This morning when I told the boys that the first Packer game of the year is on tonight they both bolted up the stairs to their bedroom and dug through their draws to find their jerseys. They were so excited to be wearing them again. I think the excitement shows in the pick.

It has been a busy day today cleaning up the house, taking the boys to the lake, and then running to the grocery store. Of course at the store I got a whole bunch of "Look at ALL THOSE KIDS in their Packer shirts!" comments again. Even some, "You're crazy!" comments. And y'all know how much I love those. Like three kids is a huge family or something. Makes me want to have 5 or 6 more! HAHA! Then I could really freak people out.

At least the shopping trip ended well when I pulled into the checkout lane and the cashier and bagger were both telling me how well behaved my boys always are. So sweet, and funny, and polite. My heart just swelled in my chest. Of course I know these things but it is nice to hear it from other people once in a while too.

Now I just have to be careful of Big Head Syndrome. You know what that is, right? When you are feeling so proud about how perfect your kids are and what a fabulous mom you are, and then BAM! They go and do something completely nasty and awful. It always happens when I am feeling most smug. I must be careful to quickly deflate my head or something obnoxious will happen. It is the law of parenthood or something.

THey are awfully cute in that picture - but they'd look cuter in Vikings jerseys ;)

BTW - Did I tell you my brother & his fiance are moving to Madison?

They're so cute! I don't think you're crazy, I think you're very, very lucky. Hope the Packers win.

That picture is amazing! They are such cutie pies:) I hope Rodgers does well this season - he and Chad Pennington deserve good years with the hoopla they've had to put up with, and they both handled it so well.

I've been watching all the drama about Bret Favre. What a mess!
Kind of like what was going on with our Red Sox and Manny Ramirez!

We are huge Patriots fans in my house. My husband has season tickets and he cannot wait for the first game to start.

Here's to another good football season!

Okay, that is a seriously cute picture. I love the smiles, that tongue, and all of those toes!
I actually don't like sports, but with a house full of boys I should probably get used to it, huh? I am kind of excited for OKC to get a NBA team though.

Oh.My.Goodness. You have 3 little doll faces! Yeah....football [pre]season has officially arrived at our house as well. My 32 year old husband is concerned about his Fantasy Football line-up.... GO PACKERS!

That whole big huge bunch of Soooooo Very Many kids (yah, whatev) really is so adorable all in Packer gear. I'm not a football fan (please say Packers = Football and not floor hockey or something that would make me sound really ignorant), but I could be inspired by your boys to become a fan because they are too cute! Hope it's fun!

OMG your boys are so adorable in those jerseys!

I'm laughing about your comment about the "after the big head" syndrome. We took the kids out shopping for blinds today (I know, we're NUTS) because we're, you know, just so used to telling each other how lucky we are that our kids are so well-behaved. We should just shut each other up.

Tag & hide-and-seek, up and down the aisles with the girl's stroller as an accessory. Screaming, laughing. Husband had to take a nap when we got home LOL!

I think I could eat those kids up! They are TOO cute!! Getting so big, too.

Good luck to your Packers.

I've met with that "rule of parenting" before. ;) You DO deserve to be proud of those cute boys though!

So, so cute!! I knew Wisconsin was crazy about their Packers, but until visiting...I had no idea how much! All the news last week was on Favre; all the TVs in restaurants were tuned to ESPN or some such channel.

Let that head get big Lady~it's a reflection of all of YOUR hard work*!* I love getting those compliments...I reflect back on them when I feel like I might pull a Forrest Gump and just open the front door and start running.

LOVE your new profile photo :)

I love the photo. such cute boys, and I would totally tell that to you if I saw you in the grocery store.

Aw, now that's just adorable. They are certainly a good-lookin' group of boys.

I get the "look" to with my three. Like we have a basketball team! What is that? One is nice. Two is like the norm but THREE!!! OMG you have THREE!!

Revel in the comments because trouble is not far behind. That is indeed a parenting law. Especially with boys. Or girls. They are adorable.

You deserve the big-headed moments, don't you think? Our kids are all decked out in their Norwich City Football (soccer) gear everywhere we go, but kid or not, these football passionate Brits will give you a piece of their mind if the team isn't one they support :-(
Your avatar is gorgeous. I am loving the "do" and look at all that sun!

I'm a Bills fan myself...but I couldn't resist saying "Awwww!" when I saw the picture of your boys in their Packer jerseys. :)

The boys are very sharp. They make me want to put a block of cheese on my head. Which one will be the next Brett Favre? Or Adrian Rodgers?

Robyn said...

GO Pack, even though I know they lost at this point. I didn't watch much, but Aaron sounded decent at the press conference.
The boys are as cute as all get out. There is something about that pride thing and being smacked down isn't there.

That's an awesome picture! And even more awesome is that all three have such squeaky clean tootsies at the same time!
Such cuties!

Lisa- Purple is NOT their color. ;)

Lime- No cheesehead hats in our family. I like to eat all my cheese, not wear it. But we do have a ton of Packer baseball hats. :)

Dianna- HAHAHA!!! A Forrest Gump. That is hilarious. I think about that while I'm jogging sometimes.

Gina- Exactly! Two is perfect but three is crazy? That doesn't make any sense.

Imbeingheldhostage- Aww. Thanks. I had just come back from a haircut and I figured I'd better take a pic cuz I can never do my hair as well as the stylist can. ;) The color (that I did myself) is the closest to my natural color as I've had in a while.

Roxy- Joey keeps saying, "I'm Brett Favre!" and I keep telling him "No, you're Joey. And that's even better!" I think all the boys have the agression and determination to play football. We'll see. :)

Robyn- Aaron actually looked really good. It doesn't really matter who wins the preseason games. Rodgers was only in for a quarter as were all the starters. We don't want them getting injured. The rest of the game is just to see how the newbies handle a game. Not bad.

Becky- Don't ya just LOVE baby/kiddie feet? Funny cuz I am grossed out by adult feet. ;)

krissy said...

Hey my fellow Packer Backer. I agree....Rodgers is being looked at through a microscope right now. I have faith that he will do well though.

I had to miss the game last night. Gasp...I know. But that kid of mine has plans, you know.

BTW..love your hot new profile picture. Love your boys pics too. Green looks good on them.

I'm still bummed about Brett. But I will always be a Packer Fan so "Go Pack!" We are going to try to get up there again this year to see a game (sans children) so maybe, just maybe, we could meet!

Oh, I love that your boys have jerseys! My son has several jerseys and wears them so proudly. Right now he is dead seat on getting a football helmet! Too funny.

I know what you mean about them blowing the good kid thing. I learned to just smile and say thanks....knowing that they could turn into terrors at any second!

Jill said...

Wow - that is one amazing photo. They all sat still, smiled, and looked happy. What are the odds?

They are WAY too cute! How blessed are you??!!!
I have 3 and would LOVE 1 or 2 more but my husband says "NO WAY". :(

By the way - mine are usually in a fist fight rolling around on the floor when I go shopping. Always fun!! We get SO many comments....just not he good kind.

Momisodes said...

Aww, they are SO adorable! A little team you have :)

You are so right though about jinxing it. Seems like everytime I say the toddler is behaving well, and tantrum comes in full force.

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Woohoo football!

So what you are saying is that you want your own football team? HA!

They are adorable! Glad to hear that they are being good for you. Keep it up boys!! : )

Your children are adorable! I'm sorry the Packers lost. I must admit, however, that I am a Vikings fan. I'm still pretty bummed Favre didn't come to the Vikes. I hope Aaron Rodgers has a good season... he has some pretty big shoes to fill!

SOOO excited it's pigskin time! And, the boys need cheeseheads. That would totally capture the essence of Packer.

Those kids are so stinkin cute I can't stand it. DH was watching that game while I was on the computer and I finally got up and said, every other word is Brett Favre. Poor Aaron Rodgers doesn't even have a chance. I feel awful for that guy.

Words To Live By

Be grateful for each new day.
A new day that you have never lived before.
Twenty-four new, fresh, unexplored hours to use usefully and profitably.
We can squander, neglect, or use them.
Life will be richer or poorer by the way we use today.
Finish every day and be done with it.
You have done what you could;
some blunders and absurdities crept in;
forget them as soon as you can.
Tomorrow is a new day.
You shall begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be
encumbered with your old nonsense.
