Alright, I'm in. I guess I'll just cave to all the peer pressure but only because it is such a great idea. Kristen of Motherhood Uncensored came up with the genius she calls Blogging the Recession.
This is what she has to say:
'The premise is simple. If you read blogs, then for the month of August, make the "pledge" to click through from your feed reader. No obligation to leave a hilarious comment or send a long stalkerish email (although both, within reason, are always lovely). Just click through to the blog (not on ads unless you are so led) and if you're feeling generous, click around to their older posts.
Just those extra page views can make a big difference for bloggers who could really use the help, or in my case, where page views don't matter so much, a big fat ego boost.'
Seeing as how I normally do this anyway I thought I would jump on the bandwagon for my fellow bloggers. I know, I really go out of my way, don't I? I'm so helpful like that.
I just want to add one little thing. CLICK ON THE ADS! DO IT, DAMMIT! You know you want to!!!! You're here anyway! They are RIGHT THERE! Right next to the post you are reading! They are just WAITING to be clicked on. Don't leave them out. Don't make them sad. Do you want to make them sad????
Ahem, I mean, if you do feel so inclined as to click on some of the ever so useful (SERIOUSLY! Have you seen some of the cool coupons and deals on these ads???) advertisements on my (or any other fabulous blogger's) sidebar I wouldn't be mad at ya.
Or if you don't want to that's fine too. I will say I am completely grateful that you even read my drivel. And not only do you read it but you comment too. I have about 100 visits every day (I am such an amateur compared to some of you) but out of those I get approximately 40 comments. That is incredible! Seriously! So (being completely genuine here) thank you all so much for all the support you have been giving me, even throughout a blogging recession. And keep those gorgeous comments coming!

It never even occurred to me that clicking onto the blog instead of looking at it through the feed reader helped those who make money on their blogs. I'll do that...and I'll go look at your ads now. ;)
I clicked...enjoy, and don't spend it all in one place! It really is a good idea. Good luck.
Yay! I'm "blogging the recession" too. I think it's a great idea.
Does blogging the recession = flogging the recession? Fogging the recession? Whatever. I'll certainly click on the ads if it earns you some well-deserved pennies. Cheers!
I read about this idea earlier today, and I think it's wonderful :) I'll be sure to be clicking through on blogs rather than a reader and clicking on ads!
I've been clicking on the ads of everyone who has them for the last few days. Maybe it'll help everyone make a few extra bucks this month :)
That is a great idea. I'm off to start clicking!!!!
Kimmy
You said DAMMIT in all caps, so I got scared and clicked an ad and commented, too. OK I would have commented anyway, but it did make me click an ad. ;)
Clickety, click, click, click!!!
I just barely started using a feed reader because it was becoming too time-consuming to click through each blog every day. Even so, I click back and forth between the feed reader and the actual blogs because I feel like the person writing deserves for me to see what they wrote in the format they wrote it in. Besides, then I get to enjoy everyone's cool looking blogs.
A blogging recession, huh? I wondered why the traffic suddenly died on my blog. Maybe I got too boring. If so, sorry.
I clicked, I don't use the reader. I'm sure it would save me time not clicking through my blog roll everyday, but thats how I roll.
if i act now can i get a free set of ginsu knives? sorry i couldn't resist. i do enjoy coming here though.
Clickity, click, click, click!
Yes yes! Click in! Click on! And click on the ads! Click on the ADS! ;) Going to click yours now. :)
click away.. wait a minute, I don't have any ads to click. must change this.
leaving you my comment love!
Aw shucks, I'm only to happy to oblige and comment -I usually do that anyway and I do visit every day via my lovely reader. Which I might add is ot being so lovely to me right now. It updates all the blogs I subscribe to now except for one -MINE! The last time it updated my blog was last Thursday and I've put up 8 posts since then! Got any idea how to fix this miserable thing? If you do, I promise I'll come by and click your ads every day!
ok spell it out for us not so seasoned bloggers; how do you DO this? just make it simple, be palin remember some of us are dyslexic and it's not so easy to figure all this out. what the heck is this feeder thing anyway, that's twice tonight I've read a comment about it.
You are so funny!
Now I am off to read more of your posts....I am so behind on everyone.
This summer thing gets me all outta internet wack!
clickin' away...
I love to read what great thinkers, like yourself, have written and can't resist leaving a comment because they mean so much to me on my blog. The ads, however, don't even register on my radar.
How funny, I'm embarrassed to say I never even NOTICED the ads on the side bar. LOL I think I tuned out the ads. LOL
I've been too lazy to even subscribe through a reader. I just go down my blogroll.
Now I'll get something set up. I didn't realize it helps the bloggers.
I'm-a-clicking. I'm-a-clicking.
I never ever thought about just clicking through my reader. I always open every. single. post. Even when I have to treck through 3 or 4 hours before I finish :)
I've thought about doing ad's before... I just don't know much about it. Do you actually make money off of them?
brittany
When you do the ad thing on your blog do you make a lot of $?
I might do a blogging the recession post too- I do think it's a great idea!
I think it is a great idea. I try to rememeber to click on something on everyone's page I am on. Great reminder!
