Time Away

Oh the hysteria. We are all running around like chickens with our heads cut off as we (well, I) try to pack the boys things, my things, the cooler, run to the store, dye my hair, and write a post before we take off for an extended weekend up north. It is hubby's birthday today and it has become a tradition to make the three hour trek to the cabin every year on his birthday weekend. I love it when I'm up there. But I certainly don't like this part.

Without a computer present I know I will be able to be in the moment with the boys, soak in the sun, do a little fishing, swing on the porch swing drinking tea, and read the remaining two books I picked up from the library. I'm counting on this being a fabulous weekend. Which is a dangerous thing, really. It always seems that when I think we will all have a wonderful time, it ends up being dreadful. And when my expectations are extremely low we ended up having the best time ever. I guess we'll just wait and see.

Aw, I hope you have fun!! I really miss our camping trips we used to take every summer partly just to get completely away from the computer and to really connect. Enjoy!

Ya know, sometimes when things don't go quite as nicely as we want or tried to plan for them, they can be made into looking like it was a fun event after the fact just by ripping it apart and seeing the humor, from a bit of the down side perhaps, but make fun of it later and it will become part of family tales that will be funny in years to come. Chin up, forge ahead and pray for the best! Can't really do much more than that, especially when you're dealing with small children.
And Happy Birthday too, to your husband!

It sounds like a GREAT time to me! And, we all need a little time away from our computers, right? Really allows us to enjoy the time.

Happy Birthday to your hubby, too! See you on the flip side!

Have a lovely weekend. Always so much to do before going away, making sure there isn't going to be a full linen basket upon your return is my first job!

Have a GREAT time! My parents have a house about an hour and a half north of here and it is always so nice to get into an other environment - the home pressures just aren't the same!

I always travel with books from the library! I try not to buy books b/c I have no place to keep them all and generally I only read fiction books once anyway!

Are you taking the new boat? Does anybody else find it funny that in the middle of the "must-do-now" list, you add "dye my hair". Right. The family probably wouldn't be nice to you otherwise?

Oh that doesn't sound like fun at all. Just plain awful and boring to me. I am sure the boys will be awful. I hope you can get through it.

(I am trying to help with the expectations part - did I help?)

Happy Birthday to your Hubby.

Okay, I am a geek; your hubby has the same birthday as Harry Potter! (Which is the day after mine...) Hope y'all had a good birthday weekend!

Words To Live By

Be grateful for each new day.
A new day that you have never lived before.
Twenty-four new, fresh, unexplored hours to use usefully and profitably.
We can squander, neglect, or use them.
Life will be richer or poorer by the way we use today.
Finish every day and be done with it.
You have done what you could;
some blunders and absurdities crept in;
forget them as soon as you can.
Tomorrow is a new day.
You shall begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be
encumbered with your old nonsense.

-Ralph Waldo Emerson
