Ugh

I was hoping this weekend would be filled with newly thawed grass for Easter egg hunts. Presents, cake, friends, and fun for Tommy's birthday. The quiet beauty of the Easter morning mass. And maybe even some relaxing family time. Instead it was a weekend of spring snow storms, puke buckets, snot-filled kleenex, feverish foreheads, and cancelled birthday parties.
~sigh~
Now, on this sunny Monday morning, I am left as an over-tired, crabby mess with little to no patience for my poor bored and recuperating boys. The fact that I saw a beautiful robin in the tree in our front yard on Thursday mocks my silly superstitious mind. Alas, spring is still not here despite what the calender says.
So there. I have no cheer to spread, or tales of happy children prancing about finding beautifully colored eggs on a soft, green lawn. Only foggy memories of sleepless nights on the futon catching my birthday boy's digested pizza, and a strong desire to delete this post before it is even published.
I do apologize.

NO need to apologize. Cheer is over-rated anyways. That sucks the donkey K especially the cancelled party. Dang.

Sending healthy vibes your way!

So sorry! It does sound like you had a dare I say- 'horrible' Easter weekend?! I was very bummed Friday when I saw it was snowing- on the first day of Spring nonetheless! We got about 6 to 8 inches too! Just not right I'm tellin' ya- just not right...

Don't apologize. Who wouldn't be crabby after a pukey weekend like that. Hope everyone is better soon. hang in there.

Oof. That stinks. It snowed here, too, and somehow, even though it was only three or four inches, it was SO depressing.

Depressing enough, without stomach flu on top of it! Poor you.

Oh dear! May things looks up from here!

I heard the Milwaukee airport was closed. UGH!

We had lots of snow too.

Hope you guys feel better soon. Surely the sun will come out soon and everyone will feel better.

Ick! I hope you all get to feeling better...and you some rest! You guys will just have to have a "make up" easter egg hunt now! It was cold here too..we just hid them inside. :) Well sorta...L was more interested in just rolling them though.

Much love!

I hear ya...I was sick this weekend and now Annie is catching it as well. I had 3/4 kids in my bed last night at some point or another. Ugh! Then because mommy is sick I am left with a weekend's worth of dishes- Ugh Ugh! Hope everyone is feeling better over there and you are able to get a little shut eye!

I am so sorry. Here's hoping things get better soon. Doesn't it just stink when things don't go the way we want them to, especially on holidays and birthdays! My DD threw up in the middle of church last year, right in the center aisle, right before communion. This year, DS threw up on Easter. I guess next year it's my other DD's turn! I hope everything gets better soon--especially the weather!

Seriously, what is it with kids and holidays and why do we all recall them so fondly? Sugar induced amnesia?

You have been put through the wringer this year.

Big (HUGS)!

Sorry to hear your son is sick. It is so hard to see your kids sick and unable to enjoy the holiday. I am wishing you all well and hoping the sun will thaw away all the winter blues!

I'm so sorry to hear that your kids were sick. I hate it when that happens. Also, you're right. This first weekend of Spring DID NOT feel like Spring at all. It was warmer last week than it is now, at least here.

Oh, and I sure wish there was a way I could just delete the candy parts of Easter all together. We made a special effort for our kids to separate the Easter bunny from the real meaning of Easter, but I still don't like the obligatory candy part of this or any other holiday. My kids were bouncing off the walls, and they didn't even get all that much.

i'll send my husband over right away. he spent part of the easter service mopping up someone else's child's vomit out of the second pew on the organ side of the church. he's experienced.

hoep everyone feels better soon and you don't succumb next.

Ugh, I am so sorry! Hey and I say, vent, vent, vent- that is sometimes what blogging is all about.

How else would virtual strangers be able to send notes of cheer to tell you to hang on! :-)

Hope all is calming down at your house, the sickness has left, and you get a massage or spa day soon!
Book an extra session at the tanning bed!

Yucko!!! It sounds like you & I had about the exact same Easter - except for I lucked out & didn't get the buckets of puke (Praise God!)

I hope everyone is on the mend...and you can celebrate your sweet Tommy's birthday very soon!!!

I'm sorry you had a crumby weekend. I do hope that it starts an uphill climb for the rest of the week. Poor kids, but definitely poor momma!

Oh dear, I am so sorry! (((HUGS))) If I lived near you I would bring you all some of whatever it is you need (Gingerale??) I hope everyone feels better soon and that the snow melts away ASAP!!

It was cold here, so we hunted for Easter eggs in the living room. Again. You'd think living in Texas we'd have better luck. But whatever.

Hope today is better for you!

Awww.. puke buckets are def not as fun as Easter baskets. I'm sorry the weekend wasn't terribly fun!

Hugs!

No No No-- no deleting. It's when you post things like this, the rest of us can say, "ok, it's not just me that's really tired of being on Mom duty right now". We had snow too, and for the FIRST time, I finally got you. Even though I knew you were tired of snow, I was wishing for some. But when the kids wore everything they owned, soaked every pair of shoes and the inside of their wellies and tracked mud into places I didn't think feet could go, I cried uncle. I SO hope you all are back up and playing on the floor in the rays of sunshine soon!

Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear. This weather has really been the pits and has just prolonged this awful cold/flu season. I hope everyone feels better and warmer weather comes soon.

I'm sorry you've had such a rotten time of it lately. We've dealt with the pukies more times this winter than I care to remember and missed a couple of holidays ourselves. I hope you are all back to normal soon and you get some much needed rest!! Take care

I'm so sorry to hear this. We're supposed to get 25 centimeters of snow tomorrow, which is pretty springlike, eh?

Bad enough that all of that happened but on your Easter weekend really sucks the big one! So sorry. I say you hunt eggs when everyone is well and then post your tales of happy children prancing about finding beautifully colored eggs on a soft, green lawn.

Big hugs to you!

I'm sorry you had such a bad weekend. No need to apologize to us, your bloggy friends. Isn't that what friends are for? Even if we're just internets.

Just so you know, in the middle of what appears to be a perfectly blissful weekend (in my pictures), we had a shear moment of H.E.L.L. with our very spirited 3yo on the way to our Easter dinner with friends (25 miles away) which caused us to pull the car over, left me(& 3yo)in tears and hubby trying not to flip out in total frustration. Lovely, huh?

Oh, those moments of Toddlerism. *sigh* The ones I don't always blog about...

What a totally crappy weekend, K! I'm sorry the robin taunted you. I hope the thaw occurs soon. I know you guys have been hit by the worst winter in 40 years & I can only imagine what that means. It's not fair. You can come hang at our house if you want to.

Words To Live By

Be grateful for each new day.
A new day that you have never lived before.
Twenty-four new, fresh, unexplored hours to use usefully and profitably.
We can squander, neglect, or use them.
Life will be richer or poorer by the way we use today.
Finish every day and be done with it.
You have done what you could;
some blunders and absurdities crept in;
forget them as soon as you can.
Tomorrow is a new day.
You shall begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be
encumbered with your old nonsense.

-Ralph Waldo Emerson
