I'm So Loved

My mom called me to check on my progress with this nasty cold. Through a raspy voice I told her how hard I was taking the announcement of Favre's retirement. So hard, in fact, that it even surprised me. After all no one died. This is just football we are talking about. Mom laughed and suggested that perhaps my reaction to the news is more about this crazy funk-like depression I've been in the past few weeks, and not really about the announcement.

I agreed that, yes, that did make sense. I have been a bit depressed lately. And, as we all know, a box of Girl Scout Cookies will only get you so far. There is only so much freezing cold weather, never-ending snowstorms, gray-gloomey days, and family illnesses one can take.

So I said, "I suppose you're right. I have been feeling a bit depressed lately. Every time it snows I feel like chucking myself out of a window."

Without missing a beat Tommy says, "How 'bout dat window, mom?"

Oh the love...sometimes it is just too helpful. LOL

I bet he was thinking that'd be a bit of excitement...because you know, to them, life is like a cartoon...

Hey it's been ages since I even had any ties to Madison and I feel sad about Favre.

(I'm reading, just no time to get in all my comments!)

Hang in there and you know a warm sunny place to go if you ever need. :)

I'm with your mom, all this nasty weather and sickness going around is depressing and getting that one day of nice weather last weekend made it worse b/c it teased us!! We're expecting nasty weather this weekend too. :(

Hang in there, spring has to be coming soon right??

That must have made you smile, huh?
I'm in a funk myself. We should kick it. I'll bring the sweets, you bring the shots, we'll stay clear of open windows, tho.

I so know what you mean! I have been sick to death of this crazy ass weather.

And today my daughter is home after puking all night and now my stomach is lashing out! So, here we go again!!!!

Oh, and the dog is sick too!

But I love you girl......and I have whined to each and every person that will listen to me about my Farve retiring! I just don't want him to go....he still has game in him. And who the hell ever said that mid 30's was too old to play football! Geesh!

Get out of your funk, go to a tanning bed and dream of nice warm, tropical weather. It helps, I swear!!!

Hang on, Spring will come. In the meantime cookies can help. I agree with krissy, maybe a couple of trips to a tanning bed might help.

I think we've all had about enough of winter, Kathryn! Spring had better come soon!

Are you starting to feel any better?

Before you chuck yourself out the window, can you make me one of those Captains and Diets and slide it on over to the pump room?

I feel ya, I have been so depressed and just blah that I haven't even been blogging much.

Hope you are feeling better soon!

haha! Tommy rocks. I do hope you feel better soon, sweetie! How about the tanning bed? I went the other day and it was all warm...and ahhh...(I swear I'm only going for a couple of months...I don't want to be lobster-fied when we go to Jamaica in May) :)

Hey all! Thanks for all the loverly comments. Yup. Tommy is a little turd bird. Stinker.

Just wanted to add that I have been going to the tanning bed every once in a while. It does seem to work for the 15 minutes of warmth and quiet that I am in the bed. My question is, what am I supposed to do with the other 23 hours and 45 minutes of the day that drive me crazy?

Hope you feel better soon. As soon as I heard of Brett retiring, I thought of you. I did. :)

I still say you did right in the jack and coke & cookies.

I think you are loved. He was being really supportive of you. Mine told me today was Christmas?! See, he isn't supportive. He just wants presents.

Words To Live By

Be grateful for each new day.
A new day that you have never lived before.
Twenty-four new, fresh, unexplored hours to use usefully and profitably.
We can squander, neglect, or use them.
Life will be richer or poorer by the way we use today.
Finish every day and be done with it.
You have done what you could;
some blunders and absurdities crept in;
forget them as soon as you can.
Tomorrow is a new day.
You shall begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be
encumbered with your old nonsense.

-Ralph Waldo Emerson
