Searching for Answers

I want to go back in time.

I want to go back to a time before cell phones and computers and television and video games.
I want to go back to a simpler time.
I want my kids to grow up with snowball fights, and board games, ice fishing and ice skating on a lake, hot cocoa, and tag.
I want them to build forts and snowmen and dreams.
I want them to feel free and safe and secure and strong, no matter where they are.

I don't understand the world we are living in.  Our society has taken so many wrong turns.

I want to go back.  I want to go back to a simpler time.  Call a "do-over".  Focus on God.  Focus on family.  Focus on loving.  Get it right.

**All my thoughts and prayers continue to be with all those involved, and connected to those involved, in the tragedy in CT.  If there was a simple solution, like tougher gun control laws, I would be all for it.  Unfortunately, I don't think that is the solution.  Crazy people will find a way to do what they want to do.  They are not concerned with laws.  You can not reason with crazy.  You can not argue logic and laws with evil.  What we can do is pray.  Put God back into this country.  This has become a godless society and it has gotten us nowhere.  Bibles have been banned from schools but are offered free to inmates in prison.  We are working backwards.

There has always been evil in this world.  There always will be.  This is not a perfect place.  And the only thing you can fight evil with is GOD.  We need to go back to a time when GOD was the front and center of all of our lives.

I don't care if you worship Buddha, Allah, or Jesus Christ.  Find a higher reason for being on this earth, your God, and live by His rules of LOVE and teach your children to do the same.**

our world needs prayers.

I am so sorry for your pain. Having the lovely children that you have can only make it harder for your to go through the news each day. You are raising your children to see the simpler things and to live in balance with technology. I can see that in your blog. But you are correct in that your job is harder than mine in some ways.

I understand Kat. I wish we could go back as well.

I do disagree slightly though, I do not understand why anyone needs to own a machine gun. Hand guns and hunting rifles I get, but machine guns I disagree with.

Hold your kids close, instill your values, do all you can to make your world a better place, it's all we can do.

You know I agree, agree, AGREE!!! We need love and prayers and we need to ban against the Devil. He is lurking out there always but we CAN beat him.

My heart is broken for those families.

I tweeted about this post. I love it and hope everyone will read it.

yes to this, and I wish it was possible to make it happen.

Mom24- I don't think we disagree. I never said anyone needs to own machine guns.

Elaine- And as usual, I agree with you. The devil is out there, man. No one ever wants to talk about that but there it is. Pure evil.

The problem with the gun control argument is just that- where someone means, "no machine guns", the law will be written "no guns" and then another one of our rights is taken away. We are broken and its much deeper than a debate in guns. Just now I read a rant on how "ridiculous" Christians are for calling that God be let back into our schools. They seem to think our desire to have prayer means we think it would stop all crime, but that's not my thinking at all. God is love. God is light, and when things are this dark, this hopeless, I can't think of a better way to fight back.

I'd give anything to take my children back about 50 years and left them have a childhood like you describe xx

I don't have anything extra to add to what's already been said, but I did enjoy seeing the photos of your adorable children. I know you are giving them extra hugs this week. Merry Christmas!

I've been thinking many similar thoughts these past few days. It's hard to to think about anything else. I don't know what else to do besides love the people in my life a little more and pray.

Me, too, Kat. Me, too.
I know there were problems then as well, but it seems that they are more abundant and more vicious nowadays.
I want simplicity, joy, and family.
I want God in our homes and schools again.
Maybe, just maybe we will turn back.
That is my prayer.

I've often thought that the last truly innocent times for childhood are behind us now. If so, that's a shame. I believe we need God now more than new laws. I don't know if the cause and effect can be proven, but it sure seems the more God is removed from public life, the more insane public life has become.

i don't have any answers either but i know it's far more complex than the sound bites already being thrown around in debate or stupid little facebook graphics.

but modelling and teaching love and respect and a respect for a higher power...yes...

Thanks for this post...I so often think about going back to simpler times. It's all just too much...too busy, too much stuff...not enough focus on what is important. One of the moms from a MOMS Club that I am in is from Newtown, CT and will be going back there for Christmas. It's a small world and a tragedy like this affects us all. Trying to make sense of it is impossible. It's beyond tragic and so, so sad. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

A very tragic event happenned, we wached and read from Turkiye(Turkey). we are very sorry, too.

Words To Live By

Be grateful for each new day.
A new day that you have never lived before.
Twenty-four new, fresh, unexplored hours to use usefully and profitably.
We can squander, neglect, or use them.
Life will be richer or poorer by the way we use today.
Finish every day and be done with it.
You have done what you could;
some blunders and absurdities crept in;
forget them as soon as you can.
Tomorrow is a new day.
You shall begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be
encumbered with your old nonsense.

-Ralph Waldo Emerson
