A Proper Start

December started out just the way it should in Wisconsin. A winter storm warning was issued last night and this morning we woke up to a winter wonderland. It was beautiful. All the schools started two hours late and the morning kindergarten classes were cancelled. No school for Joe!

Instead we spent the morning decorating our house with all of our favorite Christmas decorations. As the nativity was carefully set up Joey kept reminding us, "This is the most important part of Christmas!"

I may have to take a bunch of the decorations down if we get a call to show our house. I'm afraid it is a bit of overkill. But it is worth it. The boys jumped and danced around all morning. The Christmas music was playing and the boys all sang along. As Joey sang, "All I want for Christmas is you..." he had to stop me and tell me, "Well, actually I'd like some presents too, mom." Just in case I had taken the lyrics seriously. Good cover, Joe.

Now we are throwing on our snowsuits and boots and heading out for the first snow play of the year. I'm sure I will freeze much sooner than my little men and I'll have to bribe them into the house with hot cocoa and a Christmas movie, but I'm sure they will be happy to oblige their delicate mom.

These are the days I LOVE being a mama.

We got some of the white stuff our way as well. It's not bad today, but tomorrow I'll absolutely loathe it. The roads are already driving me crazy and I only went about 2 blocks.

I love being a mama on days like this, too. It is so much fun to see the world through the wondering eyes of a child. Although truthfully I don't need an actual child's help to be child-like.

We got some snow down here too. It was not fun driving in it. Wish I could have stayed home and decorated and even baked. Have fun in the snow.

Hearing about the snow brings back so many childhood memories. I miss not seeing the season change. But I am also thankful for not having to try and dress a 1 1/2 year old in snow gear! Today was shorts and a tee!
Sending snowangels your way though!

We'd be right there in the yard too if it weren't for this nasty cold weighing us down! That snow is lovely--and the earliest snow day cancellations I ever remember seeing!

Sounds like you are getting in the holiday spirit! I haven't had time yet - hopefully I'll get out all the stuff this week. Last year Ally was too little to really enjoy Christmas, but this year should be FUN!

That sounds awesome! I'm ready for the snow although I don't really want to drive to work in it. However it is warm and sunny as can be over here! Oh well, maybe sometime. Cute backdrop!

Sounds so very perfect! You and the boys all deserve to have so much fun. Snow and Christmas are both just magical, aren't they?

Sounds lovely.. if you like that sort of thing.;) And it's quite obvious that you do. Your snow was our rain. I'm not complaining. :)

That sounds perfect! And I love the fact that he made sure you understood that presents were desired as well. *L* Silly kid.

We got a few flurries here today, but the temp was aroud 34 so it didn't stick. We tend to get more ice around here than snow, and that is just not as much fun to play in. Sounds like you guys had a great time!

I should have decorated today, but I had to many other things going on. We only got a couple inches here and no late start.

I thought there was nothing better than a snow day, but I think that a snow day AND decorating for Christmas takes the cake!

We woke up to a little snow, a little ice, and a lot of wind. Brrr! Glad you enjoyed your day. If you want to see how things are going with our tree decorating.....you'll have to read my blog. :)

Snow? What's that? Ohhhhhhh yeah, that white stuff that is in my driveway back at my home in Wisconsin, that my son will be snow-blowing off... I so don't miss snow and freezing cold temps! For those folks of you who love it, though, ENJOY!

Such fun! That is hard for me to even imagine when we are in the lower 70's and barely in long sleeves. I'm jealous!

I need to have snow to feel Christmasy - but then I never go outside again. SO there's a bit of a catch...

I LOVE healthy snow days!!!!!! but they are very rare around here. :(

Usually, on the Sunday right after Thanksgiving, Mandy drags out the Christmas tree, decorations and such and gets that done. Not so this year though. She's decided to wait till probably the 14th to do all that. Less time we will have to spend keeping the curious kitten, Chino, out of the tree and Kurtis and Maya away from it too!
But, as to your thinking about maybe having to take down some decorations if you need to show the house, I would leave them all up -let someone else see how pretty and inviting lots and lots of Christmas stuff, strategically placed, can make a house into a home -and that's what you want to sell to them isn't it -a home? Just my theory on that but a realtor -who knows if they would agree with that aspect.

Hope your day was fabulous with the boys. I am wishing it would snow here again soon. Really thinking we need some of that white stuff too.

Glad you had such a super day friend. :)

Words To Live By

Be grateful for each new day.
A new day that you have never lived before.
Twenty-four new, fresh, unexplored hours to use usefully and profitably.
We can squander, neglect, or use them.
Life will be richer or poorer by the way we use today.
Finish every day and be done with it.
You have done what you could;
some blunders and absurdities crept in;
forget them as soon as you can.
Tomorrow is a new day.
You shall begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be
encumbered with your old nonsense.

-Ralph Waldo Emerson
