Oh The Pressure!

We got dumped on last night. Six inches of snow was deposited in our city and it is still snowing. Another six to eight inches is expected today and a few more inches tomorrow. School has been cancelled and Todd just left for work to tie up some loose ends and call all the other employees to tell them to stay home. When he is done there he is going to run out and buy some sleds so that we can hit The Bowl and take the boys sledding for the first time. I feel like a kid this morning, excited about the snow and anxious for daddy to get home with the sleds.
*
I'm not sure how long the boys will last outside in the cold and snow but we'll stay as long as we can. Then it is all hot chocolate, Christmas movies, and coloring in our Christmas coloring books for the rest of the day. I may even get around to finally sending out our Christmas cards while the boys color.
*
I am making it increasingly difficult to send out Christmas cards each year. The pressure is intense.
*
The last few years I have been incredibly fortunate to be able to get a "money" shot. Beautiful smiles, cute poses, everyone looking at the camera. It just doesn't happen often. And every time we visit family they have our Christmas card prominently displayed and they gush when they tell us that our Christmas cards are always their favorite of the year. Pressure!!!!!
Christmas 2005
Christmas 2006
Christmas 2007
How can I compete with that? It is just too hard.

We tried the poses on the stairs. I didn't like it.We tried the couch. But that didn't work either. We tried posing on the floor again, and again. But none of them were working for me. They all just felt too posed. Finally, Ben fell to an exhausted and frustrated heap on top of his brothers (notice they tried to hold their smiles!).When he looked up, I got my shot. This is my money shot. It may not be the cutest photo, or the best posed. They may not be smiling their prettiest smiles or even looking that happy, but it sure does make me laugh. This looks like my boys. They are buds. And this is them.

Christmas 2008

Now if I can only find the motivation to send them.

Very cute Christmas cards. I have mine printed...I hope to send them soon. I was hoping for a snow day today...mostly rain here and now it is slushy...maybe 2-4 inches later. Have fun today.

I think they turned out great. Good job. I'm impressed you can even find the energy to do them.

I have a friend who sent her cards with a picture of the five of them (herself, the hubby and their three kids) being goofy with the caption "it is what it is" Happy Holidays. It was awesome.

Very cute pictures.

I stress over the xmas card every year and drive myself crazy with it. But I'm happy to say mine arrived in the mail yesterday and they are awesome. So I just need to address them and mail. I'm going to post mine close to xmas b/c too much of my family reads my blog and I don't want to ruin the surprise!

that shot turned out wonderfully. My good friend has four kids and has dressed them up on five different occasions to try to get a good photo; she even paid someone to come and take pics, and they all turned out wrong. You're right, it is a lot of pressure.

Oh how I have snow and sled envy. We've finally gotten cold here and there are rumors of snow sometime in the next ten days. I hope, I hope, I hope . . .

You have the cutest little boys. I love how they are modeling for you like that!

Addressing them is the worst part. Once they are mailed though? Accomplished!

Super cute!!!!

I bribe with candy. It's about all I can do. And I only have 2 to deal with ;)

Great work on those pictures! It's so tough to get things "just right" to reflect everyone's personality AND be acceptable to send out!

Hope the sledding was grand--it was windy here, but out of the wind it felt okay outside.

I love it, the accident shots are sometime the best. Like you said they look like your boys and that the best part. I do like the one were Ben is falling and Joey and Tommy are trying to continue to smile.

That is an awesome Christmas card!!! How did you make it?? Did you use snapfish or one of those types of websites?? I had our done at JC Penny's and it didn't really seem worth it after we waited and waited and waited. I would love to create my own for next year!!!!

I love your money shot. The boys do really look like buds.
Your cards look great.

I'm sending two different cards out this year: The first has some nice shots of the family, with a nice greeting. The other has a picture of my youngest attacking a pumpkin with a knife, and the caption "Peace on Earth, Good will toward men."
That one's for the "special people."

The look on Ben's face is priceless! Excellent shot.

I love that picture!

I find it nearly impossible to get a shot of my two kids smiling and looking at the camera, so I can only imagine the pressure of three.

CissaLynn and Danielle- I did the photos online at Walgreens.com and they were ready to be picked up in less than an hour. Pretty cool, huh? :)

Christmas 2007 is quite possibly the cutest thing I've ever seen.
I like the "stacked" pictures, but I LOVE the one you ended up with. Cute as can be!

Words To Live By

Be grateful for each new day.
A new day that you have never lived before.
Twenty-four new, fresh, unexplored hours to use usefully and profitably.
We can squander, neglect, or use them.
Life will be richer or poorer by the way we use today.
Finish every day and be done with it.
You have done what you could;
some blunders and absurdities crept in;
forget them as soon as you can.
Tomorrow is a new day.
You shall begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be
encumbered with your old nonsense.

-Ralph Waldo Emerson
