Frozen

The Christmas party was cancelled on Friday night due to excessive snow and nasty cold weather. So my dear little, red shoes did not see festive lights of the season. Ah well. There is always Valentine's Day, right?

I think my brain is frozen. The temperatures have been an average of -6 degrees for the past few days with a gusting wind of 35 miles an hour. The wind chill is -40 degrees. That's cold folks. I'm beginning to feel a bit cabin feverish. Add to that the boys that are sick of being cooped up in the house, the millions of presents that have to be wrapped, the cookies that need baking, and the school activities that need attending, and I may just loose my marbles.

The cold may have also frozen my heart. I have been rather grinchy this morning. Griping and snarking at the boys over every little thing. Good times. So glad it is only the second official day of winter and we have so much snow that the snow banks are taller than me. Is it spring yet?

Luckily, Beyonce was able to snap me out of it. What? You heard me. I was driving the boys to visit my dad this morning when Single Ladies came on the radio. Benny immediately put a smile on my face with his "uh-oh-ohhh-oh-oh-oh-oh"s to the song. And when Tommy said, "Mom! Do you hear the little mice singing?" when the little "whirp! whirp!" noises were heard I couldn't help but laugh. Thank you Beyonce for snapping me out of it. (never thought I'd hear myself say that)

(I do not like the video for this song. Could they have worn more unflattering outfits and done ickier moves? Blech. So instead I included part of the video parody they did of the video on SNL. You can see Justin Timberlake on the left. Very funny. As always, pause my music on the bottom before you play the video. Thanks!)

Too bad about not being able to wear your new fabulous shoes...but you know, they would look great for a late dinner at home after the boys have gone to bed!!!!

Stay warm - we are nasty cold and snowy here too!

My little guys are just starting to like the radio and their comments and likes on the radio are so cute, innocent and fun!

HUGS!

You are right about cabin fever...the kids get nuts. There are only so many movies you can watch, games you want to sit and play before everyone gets on eachother's nerves. Hopefully we snap out of this horrible deep freeze.

Red shoes for Christmas?

Sorry about the party being cancelled...those shoes were fabulous. I am grumpy, grouchy and grinchy as well. I don't even know why.

I hope you have a great Christmas.

Oooh, we've got cabin fever here as well. I'm glad your sweet boys were able to find a way to bring a smile to your face. ;)

Okay, that video was slightly disturbing...

Sorry for the cabin fever! I've had some, too, when my daughter was sick and in quarantine last week. This week it's my youngest and me that are sick. Merry Christmas! (I really didn't mean for that to sound sarcastic...lol)

We've had the nasty weather too, in fact their last day of school was cancelled friday due to the ice. We have more nastiness headed our way tomorrow in the way of ice, freezing rain, and snow. How many more days till spring??

Add to that my sick kiddos, two with fevers and I'm worried that we will miss our family get togethers on xmas eve and xmas day. I'm hoping they get better quickly!

Can you believe this weather? AH! I know you have it worse than us, but we are getting a nice preview of what you have! EEK!

First day of Christmas break for my crew and they're already begging to go outside...somewhere and "do" something! I refused to let them play in the snow today...too cold! As far as Beyonce's song...I'm embarrassed to admit it, but I love turning it up in the car and jamming a bit!!! Ha-ha! It definitely is an up beat mood lifter!!! As a matter of fact...I had some gift delivery to do tonight...hubby and I got the kids out to do this and we added a pizza night out too! Getting to the point...my hubby really doesn't care for that song, but who was driving...ME! So, that song came on...I was jamming and singing and all of a sudden you hear my girls chime in!! Talk about LOL!!! I looked over at hubby, he just rolled his eyes and chuckled!! Girls!! They just want to have fun! Sorry for the lengthy comment...loved your post!!!!!

Glad you were able to bounce back.

I'm with you on the video...ick!

And, we have cabin fever and I don't want to go out...and it's only 20 degrees here!

Merry Christmas!

My stinking web browser isn't showing your video :-(. I think you need to just wear the shoes for Todd and make a night of it-- you don't even need to face the cold.

Don't be so hard on yourself, you have raging hormones, and too much cold, you're allowed a little grumpiness.

Merry Christmas Kat, I hope it's lovely and warm.

Blessings,
J

This has been a more brutal winter than normal for lots of folks. It gets old kind of quickly. Your boys are so hip with the music, and I had to smile as you described them singing along and commenting about the mice. Too cute!

Oh yeah, this month is trying my patience and we're just getting started! I'm so sorry that the shoes had to stay home. Bummer.

It has been too stinkin' cold. I saw those shoes today at kohls and I'd be lying if I said I didn't think about getting them. Beyonce can snap me out of funk too.

Yeowza! That is cold. I hear you on the cabin fever. I'm starting to long for Spring as well after being inside for a while. Those shoes would be fabulous for Valentines day :)

Words To Live By

Be grateful for each new day.
A new day that you have never lived before.
Twenty-four new, fresh, unexplored hours to use usefully and profitably.
We can squander, neglect, or use them.
Life will be richer or poorer by the way we use today.
Finish every day and be done with it.
You have done what you could;
some blunders and absurdities crept in;
forget them as soon as you can.
Tomorrow is a new day.
You shall begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be
encumbered with your old nonsense.

-Ralph Waldo Emerson
