Stalked

He's here. He's watching me. I just woke up n glanced up at the window above my bed. He was there just beyond the glass. Call the police.

The challenge this week was to compose a text in 160 characters that elicits or expresses fear.  My text is inspired by something that actually happened to me when I was younger.  Perhaps I will write about it in more depth as it makes for a pretty good scary story, perfect for Halloween.

Um, okay yeah... that scared me! I was already spooking myself out pretty bad this morning, my husband leaves for work really early and being in a dark house by myself with the kiddos does that to me. Started thinking I want a gun {ack, I never think that!} or a big dog at the very least... just got myself calmed down and then I read this! Haha! I'm going to go make sure all the blinds are closed now, thank you very much! ;)

Creepy! Windows have always been scary for me...especially at night. You never know what lies just beyond that thin pane of glass. Nicely written!

Riahli- Ha! I'm the same way when hubby leaves for the weekend. He and the boys were up north last week when Grace and I came home and when I got home I did an immediate sweep (since it was still broad daylight) of the house, closets and everything (even the crawl space in our basement) to make sure no one was here. Then that night I heard a tapping, tapping coming from outside, and though I knew the wind was knocking something against the house I took a GIANT knife out with me to investigate. heh heh.

Katie- Yep. Windows freak me because I've watched too many scary movies as a kid. ;)

Creepy to awake to something like that. It's strange how our subconscious works and has its own little safeguards.

I would hate to be watched like that!

That is creepy! We live on a treed property with no one around and I have too many windows without coverings. Thanks.

Ewww! I'm scared! (It doesn't take much.) I'd love to hear the story behind it sometime.

um yeah you can't just leave us hanging like that! what happened???

Kat said...

Angela- Yep. It was scary.

GG- I think the feeling of being watched is just the WORST.

Kristy- Thanks!

Kelly- There were actually think cream colored curtains on the window. I can not stand an uncovered window, especially at night. Too spookey!

Mom24- I think I'll write the whole story for next week. It's great for Halloween! ;)

Tonya- Well, I'm still here. ;) Tune in for the complete story next week!

My bedroom is on the third floor of our townhouse. We have no fire escape or balcony. I am always afraid I'm going to see someone watching me through the window!

Kat said...

Karen- Ha! I KNOW! I've had the same thought on our second story. It really freaks me out because it would be SO SCARY cuz how the HELL would someone be there? I actually saw a scary movie when I was younger that had this demon guy floating outside a window so I think that is where I get that bizarre thought from.

I would be scraed...brings to mind Halloween the movie and Michael Myers peering in a window.

*shivers*

Kat said...

Carrie- Oh, that movie scares the crap out of me. Thank God it wasn't Michael Myers. ;)

Totally scary. Especially since it was real! Yikes.

The feeling that "I'm being watched" is horrible . . . because you're trying to tell yourself that it's not happening . . . but once that seed is there, it's impossible to ever shake.

Looking forward to hearing more.

Kat said...

Natalie- Yeah. It was freaky.

John- Sometimes it seems the more you try to calm yourself down the more you freak out.

Now, that's just creepy.
If I'm up all night tonight, I'm blaming you!

you had me wondering who would be looking in your second floor window like that but you just never know with people..

Oh, that is so scary! The it so could happen factor is high here!

(And it sounds like it really did happen? Aak!)

Kat said...

Nichole- Hehe. Sorry.

Nbrsspot- It was on the first floor.

Galit Breen- Yep. It happened. Crazy, right?

Oh that sure is creepy to wake up to!

Words To Live By

Be grateful for each new day.
A new day that you have never lived before.
Twenty-four new, fresh, unexplored hours to use usefully and profitably.
We can squander, neglect, or use them.
Life will be richer or poorer by the way we use today.
Finish every day and be done with it.
You have done what you could;
some blunders and absurdities crept in;
forget them as soon as you can.
Tomorrow is a new day.
You shall begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be
encumbered with your old nonsense.

-Ralph Waldo Emerson
