Let's Make A Deal

We received a counter offer from the sellers. They came down quite a bit and we countered back coming up just slightly from our original offer. This whole process made me realize how much I actually like this new house. I've been picturing all the ways we could make it our own. I think this house would be a very good fit for us. It was actually much easier on me when I was more flippant about our offer. Add emotion to it and it is difficult to keep a level head. Luckily the hubby is a master negotiator, and does this for a living, so he is able to keep his emotions in check and keep it strictly business. Me? Well, I get nervous. On many different issues.

I guess I hadn't thought about the sellers keeping their house on the market until we actually sell our house. Basically that means that even if they accept our offer they can accept another offer if we haven't sold our house yet. Yipes! That is a scary thought. Could you imagine if we just sold our house and then they just accepted another offer? We'd be homeless! Fa-reaky! It seems that everything has to fall into place just right to make this work out. We'll see.

I suspect we will have this whole thing settled one way or the other by the end of the week. We'll either be staying put in our lovely but small house, or we'll be moving on up to the big and beautiful house in the "country". And then the real work would begin.

Whatever happens we'll be fine. Que Sara, Sara! Right? Still, I'm keeping my fingers (and toes) crossed.

I'm praying that this house will work out for you. I can't wait to hear all your plans and craziness. :-) LOL.

If it's any consolation, I'd be a basket case! Hopefully your house will sell quickly and they accept your counter offer and all will be well with the world. Keeping my fingers crossed for you!

I agree with Rachel - if it's meant to be, it will. Good luck! We're still progressing forward on our house sale...

All the conditions and timing issues involved in buying and selling are crazy.

I am hoping for the best for you!

Crossing my fingers for you too! I just went through this process a few months ago. It didn't work out for us, so we've decided to build an addition instead. Everything happens for a reason and in it's own time!

Keep us posted!

Relax, put it in the Lord's hands and enjoy the win-win situation. I've never regretted any of our moves, but I do regret worrying about that which I could not control. Let go and enjoy the ride; we bloggers will be right beside you praying, laughing, rejoicing, and screaming on this roller-coaster called life. It's supposed to be FUN. ; )

Good luck. How exciting...and scary! If it helps any, remember that lots and lots of times it does work out just right. I hope that it all works out and that you get the house. Fingers crossed.

It WILL work out. And this too shall pass. It's just so stinking exciting when you're in the unknown phase and (BONUS) it confirms how much you love it - which is a good sign!

I hope it works out. I'd really like to try to put our house on the market, but I think what we would get for it would barely cover the mortgage, and I don't think borrowing with no money down is happening now.

Oh how fun! Scary scary but so much fun!

Hoping that it is in fact all settled by the weekend for you, and that you are abe to sell your house super fast too!

Thanks for the update. Glad to hear that they are at least willing to work with you guys.

I just know it will all work out. I can't believe they can keep their house on the market after accepting your offer! That is stressful.

Keeping everything crossed for you!

This was the situation we were in a little over a year ago! I tried so hard not to get emotional about it and said I would be happy with whatever happened... but it was hard ;) I hope it all goes quickly for you so that you don't need to be in that stressful state of limbo for long.

I really hope everything goes your way, K. I'm looking forward to hearing more good news. I KNOW moving is scary, daunting and stressful and I know how time plays a huge factor in it all. We're all behind you, Pet.

P.S. I have some bling for you on my blog. :o)

Been there...Done that. I hate selling/buying. My husband is a rock. He can sell someone Ocean Front property in South Dakota. I cry and beg and plead. It sucks.

But it does always work out in the end. I know that sounds cliche. But it really does.

You could live on that kick ass boat. I would be game for that. Well, unless it was in the middle of winter. Or raining. Or really hot. Okay, that wasn't one of my better ideas. I got nothing.

I thought about this when you put in a low offer. That's what we did on our house and then I panicked when I thought we might lose it-- that's how we FINALLY knew how much we saw ourselves living in it.
I can't wait to hear what happens!

i nearly wrote "que sara, sara" in my comment on your last quote! ;)

your home will be filled with love, regardless. You know, even if it is in a cardboard box. You could set that up right ON the beach, though, so it's all good! ;)

How fun! Don't be greedy pricing your current home. Everyone wants to buy low and sell high. Price it to sell quickly so you can get to packing! Living in the country is fantastic!! Your kids will be in hog heaven, not to mention the closets,...

OOOO I know how that is. WE did that just last year. We sold our house but had a contigency offer on the house we live in now. IT made us nervous because the whole time we where trying to sell our house they were having open houses on this house. NOW the thought of having to sell this house just a little after a year of all that nightmare....I am nervous...LOL OK I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

AFF- Yes, Sara! I actually looked it up and it is spelled both ways. Sera, and Sara. So I spelled it Sara.

Sassy! ;)

Wow, the roundabouts with your sellers AND with your buyers must not have just been daunting, but also a little frustrating! You’re so right; emotions would definitely have been problematic in selling houses, because you can’t put a price on good and happy memories. I do hope that everything worked out in the end, and that you were able to sell your house properly, and buy the new one at a price you and the sellers could agree on.

Words To Live By

Be grateful for each new day.
A new day that you have never lived before.
Twenty-four new, fresh, unexplored hours to use usefully and profitably.
We can squander, neglect, or use them.
Life will be richer or poorer by the way we use today.
Finish every day and be done with it.
You have done what you could;
some blunders and absurdities crept in;
forget them as soon as you can.
Tomorrow is a new day.
You shall begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be
encumbered with your old nonsense.

-Ralph Waldo Emerson
