Each day I pray to be a better mother
more patient
more loving
more kind
Each day I pray that I am an example to my children
I pray that I can show them compassion
fairness
tenderness
calm
Each day I start out with the best of intentions
only to end up with disappointments and regrets
Each day I tell myself to remain calm in the face of hysteria
Each day I know I must be setting the example
holding my temper
controlling my tongue
Each day I let myself down.
Each day I get sick of apologizes
Theirs and mine
I get sick of guilt
sick of worry
sick of anger
Each day I pray again
I pray to be a better mother
more patient
more loving
more kind
Each day I pray for forgiveness

I can do all things through Him who strengthens me. You need a dose of Holy Spirit power. The flesh profiteth nothing. Ask The Holy Spirit to fill you with his grace, strength and power. You will see a difference. Jesus offers us an exchanged life. We lay down our natural efforts and pick up His supernatural gifts. There is no need for you to walk in defeat.
Thank you, Karen. I often call on the Holy Spirit. As a matter of fact I did just before the kids came home from school so that I could find the right words to express to them what I was feeling. Once again, the Holy Spirit did not let me down. All is back to normal again.
I just wish I could receive the Holy Spirit in the heat of the moment. I need to think and pray before I act, react, and open my mouth.
It's a hard job and anyone who says it isn't, probably isn't doing it right.
Keep praying! xoxo
Sounds like you could use some prayers from us. We are here!
Hey Kat :) thinking of you...and remember we have all 'been there and done that'...it gets better...strength that side :)
This is definitely my prayer, too! Lots and lots of forgiveness. So thankful that kids and God forgives!
I hear ya. It's so hard, isn't it? You want so much to be who you want to be, who you want to be for them, and it's just so hard.
You need to look in the mirror and tell yourself that no one is perfect, but you are on the right path!!
Look back and see if you have made any progress with things you have prayed for, like patience. I know I was not a patient person and prayed for patience and then I got every single red light every time I was out and about and also got behind the slowest check out lines, etc., but in thinking about it one day, I realized I was less impatient than I would have been in a particular situation. I bet you'll see that you really have made improvements in things you have prayed for and God is answering your prayer slowly and surely on a daily basis. Remember he's molding you like clay and you know it takes a while for clay to be made into something of beauty (but you are already there, but you know what I mean). (hopefully) God is still working on you; you are a work in progress, but I bet you have made leeps and bounds from where you might have been at one time/point.
betty
Thank you everyone. I appreciate all the supportive comments.
Clearly we had a bad day the other day. Actually it was a morning which makes it even worse because I loathe sending my kids off to school upset. But I prayed about it pretty much all day and when the kids got home I spoke with them and it was really good. A learning experience for all of us really.
I suppose it wasn't as bad as I made it out to be (I can be pretty dramatic) but it did really bother me. I just wish I could always be calm and patient (though I can see the strides I've made since I've had kids) but that is something I am sure I will work on my entire life.
I am definitely a work in progress, I just wish I was further along in my progress. ;)
Thanks again, all!
This parenting thing is a tough gig but the rewards are many. And it does make better people out of us. What a gift.
And I think you're doing great. :)
OH girl, I can relate to this for sure! We just have to keep praying. God loves us and knows our struggles. You are a wonderful mother to your kids. Never forget that.
