Taking Time For Me

That's right. I'm doing it. I'm taking time for me just like you all suggested. Okay. Maybe not JUST like you all suggested. I mean, I'm not going anywhere. But I am pampering myself a bit.

I have a pajama obsession. I don't know why, but I love pajamas. Every year I ask for pajamas and slippers for Christmas. I wear the same pajamas pretty much every night (except when it is hot in summer then I wear boxers or something-TMI?) so they really do get pretty worn out in one year. The pajamas I received last year for Christmas are still holding up pretty well, but I've been feeling the jammie itch already. I need new jammies.

While the boys and I were at Target this weekend I spotted an adorable oversized long sleeved t-shirt pajama top. And guess what. Sale! I grabbed it off the rack and went searching for pants to match the top, because hello! This is Wisconsin. An oversized pajama shirt may work in some places but not in Wisconsin in an old drafty house. A few racks away I found the perfect pants. It looked like they were made to go together with perfectly matching reds and even the same snowflake pattern. And guess what. SALE! It was a done deal.

Then the boys spotted the slippers. I was already feeling a little guilty about indulging in my pajama obsession but my little smarties convinced me to get the slippers too. The boys were so excited when I put the slippers in the cart you'd think they were for them. Little cuties.

So tonight I'm going to pamper myself. I'm gonna take an extra long shower (what's that?), and put on my brand new pajamas and slippers. Yay! And then when I'm good and cozy I'll grab a cup of tea and start that book I've been meaning to read. I think I could get used to this whole pampering thing!

I'm glad you're taking some time out to pamper yourself, and there truly is nothing better than a cozy pair of jammies! One of the best parts of working from home is that I can stay in my jammies till noon if I want to. :-)

The days like you had on Sunday have come to all of us. You did exactly the right thing, though -- you forgave yourself. It's really all you can do. Your kids have forgotten it already.

Peace - D

Hey girl! The jammies are too cute!!! I love it that you posted a pic for us to see. I think all of us moms need a litte "me" time and cozying up in jammies w/tea and a good book can be just what we need! :)

Btw, I just love your last post! It was a nice reminder for me that there is always a fresh start and I needed that! Thank you!!! :)

Those slippers are so cute! The pajamas are as well, but those slippers...I can see why your boys liked them. ;) I haven't read that book yet, and I feel like the only one left who hasn't!

The P.J's are adorable. The book is freaking awesome and you will like the movie too. You are too cute for words and What the Hell happened to our Packers last night? Gawd.

Now. Go. Relish in some much needed time in your cute p.j's and great book and think of the fact that the Blogger conference will be in Chicago this year. How great is that?

Good for you!!

Those PJ's are adorable...especially those slippers!! I've tried that tea before and love it. I always put a little milk in my tea....I must have been English in a former life! It just tastes better that way. I can't wait to see what you think of the book.

My friend Dianna did a hilarious post on Twilight. You'll have to check it out.

My daughter likes to have a cup of hot tea, her warm jammies after a hot shower, book and then, also an afghan of some type to curl up with and relax. I like hot tea well enough but am still more a devotee of coffee but when I want some hot beverage to chill out with and repose, I like pretty much the same things as daughter except that I like a cup of fresh hot coffee with a good flavored creamer. Just got a new flavor the other day -Tiramisu -really yummy!

NICE! You look adorable in your new jammies, and the book and tea looked marvelous! Awwww....

Oh girl, you deserve TONS of pampering, especially during and after this week, right?

That's cute how the boys were so excited about your jammies and slippers!

Yay for quality time with yourself! I love jammies too - I could (and do) wear them all day long. :-) Love the slippers - I have his matching pj pants! ha!

Really - moms need time to themselves. It does sound SO selfish, but it's true. We work better and we are in better moos when we get that time - even if it is only 10 minutes.

enjoy! And do it all weekend, too!

Words To Live By

Be grateful for each new day.
A new day that you have never lived before.
Twenty-four new, fresh, unexplored hours to use usefully and profitably.
We can squander, neglect, or use them.
Life will be richer or poorer by the way we use today.
Finish every day and be done with it.
You have done what you could;
some blunders and absurdities crept in;
forget them as soon as you can.
Tomorrow is a new day.
You shall begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be
encumbered with your old nonsense.

-Ralph Waldo Emerson
