Feeling Merry

This isn't normally like me.  I'm feeling out of sorts.  Strangely peaceful, happy, excited, and giddy.  Some might even call me jolly.

My family is all too well aware that I refuse to put up any Christmas decorations until December has officially started.  It seems that each fall I push the pause button and refuse to move on too quickly after Thanksgiving. You see, I love my fall decorations, I love Thanksgiving, and I believe each holiday deserves its own proper celebration.  October is for Halloween. November is for Thanksgiving.  And December is for Christmas.

This year, however, I am itching to celebrate Christmas.  I want snowmen all over my house.  I want my nativity scene and angels set up outside.  I want garland to trickle down the railing on my stairwell.  I want to set up both of our Christmas trees.  I want to watch all of my favorite Christmas movies and cartoons while snuggled in close to my family.  I want to listen to classic Christmas songs while we all sit around pulling out the ornaments and decorating our trees.

*sigh*

Something has got a hold of me.  I am in the mood for Christmas.  I don't know if it is because I have the majority of my Christmas shopping done already, or because I have been a generally contented, happy person for the past few weeks.  Whatever it is, I'm feeling merry.

I may not decorate my house for a couple of days yet but my blog is already decked out in Christmas goodness.  I usually change my background for winter but I never change my header.  This year, however, I was just feeling it.  The pic is from last year, but I think it still works.  What do you think?

Are you with me?  Are you feeling the Christmassy love, or are you still stuck on pause?

Well, when you read my post on my One Day at a Time Blog you know how I am feeling. But I am glad you are feeling the way people should feel just before we turn the corner into December. Go for it. Each Christmas has different pressures, so when you are ahead of the curve, I say Hang Ten!

LOVE the pic and the decorating. :)

I'm really into the shopping this year...is that awful? Nonetheless, I'm having a ball choosing 'just right' presents for almost everyone on our list. So fun! (Got any great ideas for a 76 year old mother that has everything and buys what she doesn't?)

We haven't decorated at all yet though. It's overwhelming and daunting to think of doing it, plus I think I'm dragging my heels because this is the first year Rebekah's not home yet. Colleges in Ohio changed schedules and she won't be home now until Dec. 15. Blech. Still so far. Plus, with Mark being so sick decorating feels like just one more thing we can put off...not to mention Jacob being in the Christmas program and Julianna having 6 performances of the Nutcracker in the next week plus an all day dress rehearsal. I think I'd be a lot more jolly and festive if my children could actually be here to help me along.

Anywho, I'm glad you're into it. :)

Love the header!

We put up our Christmas stuff last weekend - the earliest we've EVER done it. I think I was affected by the early advertising blitz. But honestly, it feels a bit too early for me . . .

Kat...."Tis a wonderful time of the year"! Glad you're feeling it! I start playing Christmas Carols in my studio and my car during November and LOVE it! It's too short a season, in my estimation. December...all-month-long should be dedicated to Christmas in our homes and hearts. You're setting a beautiful example for your precious children. I know mine LOVE Christmas, too!! xoxoxox

I decorated yesterday, so yes, I'm in the spirit! Picked out all the cookies I'll be making and am 75 percent done shopping. We have a lot of trees here, some are already up and decorated, but the two big ones will be done this weekend. Enjoy!

I've been in a bit of a bread-baking mode lately -making Swedish Limpa Rye bread and also, some really great sweet rolls. Now, I need to toss cookie baking into that mix and get busy doing that too. Thanks for this post though as it was just the little bit of a nudge I think I needed to begin getting me in tune with a Christmas mood! Love the header pic of the kids and Merry Christmas now and throughout the coming weeks.

I am so with you. I want Christmas to be here already. Our family does the decorations the weekend after Thanksgiving. This year it seemed a bit early, though.
I agree wholeheartedly that each holiday should be celebrated before moving on to the next one.
And now it is Christmas' turn. Woohoo!

i think i'm still stuck on pause myself. just not feeling it yet, though a 2 day migraine this week may have more to do with that than anything else.

I am feeling it but not alot of money this year and hubby doesnt want a tree because of the dang cat. I have had to reput up my garland in the front door way several times already. she loves playing with it.

I wasn't very much in the spirit until we put our decorations out this past weekend. That always helps. I love all the white lights in our living room, on the tree and garlands. So pretty.

Glad you are feeling "Christmasy" Kat!! :D

p.s.can you come finish my shopping?

First off, I think the header is magnificent. I commented on your later post about de-stressing by staring at the tree. The kids seem to know that innately, eh?

I'm starting to get the Christmas good feelings. I've posted at my blog about trees, and I'll start dragging the old stories out of mothballs over the next week or two. No decorations at the house yet, but this weekend will definitely see them done.

I'm with you, full of music, joy and love for Jesus that is flooding my soul. i have the joy!

Words To Live By

Be grateful for each new day.
A new day that you have never lived before.
Twenty-four new, fresh, unexplored hours to use usefully and profitably.
We can squander, neglect, or use them.
Life will be richer or poorer by the way we use today.
Finish every day and be done with it.
You have done what you could;
some blunders and absurdities crept in;
forget them as soon as you can.
Tomorrow is a new day.
You shall begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be
encumbered with your old nonsense.

-Ralph Waldo Emerson
