Someday I won't be woken up at the crack of dawn on Mother's Day because one of my little ones "has to go poop so bad!"
Someday we will go to mass on Mother's Day and I will be able to concentrate on every word of the scripture and listen closely to the sermon without having to scold hyper children, or wipe runny noses, or calm crying toddlers.
Someday when we go out to lunch for Mother's Day I won't break into a sweat as the hubby and I run to and from the buffet line with plates and plates of food in an attempt to feed our ravenous children.
Someday I'll actually get to eat at a Mother's Day buffet.
Someday Mother's Day will be too quiet.
Someday I'll really miss all the madness and the rush.
Someday I'll see that Mother's Day buffets are overrated even when I do get to eat them.
Someday I won't need as much sleep and wouldn't mind being woken up by a cute little munchkin that has to "go poop so bad." Especially when those words are immediately followed by, "Oh. And Happy Mother's Day, mom!"
Someday I'll sit in church and stare at the young family in front of me with tears in my eyes.
It wasn't a relaxing Mother's Day. It never seems to be. But it was a blessed Mother's Day. I am lucky enough to have both my wonderful mother and my fabulous mother-in-law here with me to celebrate Mother's Day. Trying to fit in special visits with two amazing women is a good problem to have. And four healthy, if not rambunctious, children keeping me hopping all day on Mother's Day is the most I could hope for.
Mother's Day wasn't breakfast in bed and lazing around all day. But it was my life. Crazy, loving, busy, happy, stressful at times, funny, sweet, and most of all BLESSED.
I hope you all had a blessed Mother's Day too.

It sounds pretty darn perfect to me. I'm glad you had a happy one.
Think positively about those somedays when the peace and quiet may be in too ample a supply and that perhaps something else will be there to replace that -like maybe Grandchildren!
I can relate to all your wishes there -for the peace and quiet, yes -been there, done that and now, I'm doing that once again with my two younger grandkids in tow. I've found though that the p&q is often greatly overrated but is okay if received in small doses now and again. I look for little doses of that every night now -usually arrives shortly after 8 p.m. when two small children have gone to bed and the house falls silent except for the tv! I know though, regardless of the hassles at times, you're enjoying every last minute of doing with and for your kids! And that's GREAT!
It is true there are those days that are complete madness, but you know you'll miss them as the kids get older.
True words. I try to remind myself when things are really hectic, that someday I'll miss this. Mother's Day for me was a combination of busy, crazy, and relaxing so I guess that's a nice one to have!
the little handmade things are so sweet. i still have some of them on my fridge from over a decade ago.
I think you have it all down just perfectly. You are not a person who will have many regrets as you seem to be in the moment each day.

I called my Mom last night (since she is NOT geographically convenient right now) and she said they had NO ONE over yesterday since they saw everyone on Saturday for my niece's First Communion. I was a little sad but she said that it was fine and she was glad she didn't have to cook for everyone (my other family that is in town)!! Ha!
So yeah, it's CRAZY now but you're right, someday it may not be...

Mine was good--started out with a bowl of soggy cereal poured for me by my middle son--I ate it with a smile;)
you will get there before your kids are grown! I got woken up by the kids LOUDLY unloading the dishes. But I did get breakfast in bed eggs and oj ;)

What a beautiful post. That is the way my Mother's Day was. I got to eat my brunch in peach as my boys are grown up and on their own, but the good boys that they are, they both called me. =)

I made my mom a card this year with paper, markers and stickers during "art time" while MQ and I played school. When I gave it to my mom MQ proudly announced "I sponsored that card!" ;)
