My Cemetary

PhotoStory Friday

I grew up in this cemetary.

I rode my bikes up and down the hills.   My mom and I would take our walks here all the time. I would bring my friends to the cemetary and play here as a child.
I know it is probably sounds strange, but I felt at home in this cemetary.  My sister's grave is in this cemetary.  As are my grandma and grandpa.  Now my father's grave is there too.
The first house Todd and I bought was one block from this cemetary.  The first few times I took him on walks through the cemetary he thought it was a little odd.  Now he loves it too.  And my boys love running up and down the hills and driving thier bikes up the same roads I did as a child.

The house we now live in is about a mile from the cemetary and I often take my runs to and through the cemetary.
I find peace and comfort there.
And sometimes when I am struggling with my sassy children the cemetary provides prospective and helps me to see how blessed I really am.  And I realize that nothing my children do is that bad.  Not as bad as decorating their grave for the holidays would be.  And I am so grateful for that painful reminder.

I love this cemetary.

I know exactly what you mean. That's how cemetaries hit me too. I really regret that my brothers are not buried, I think having somewhere to go is very peaceful.

I love cemeteries. They are beautiful and peaceful. I love reading all of the stones and wondering about the people buried there.

We have a cemetary like that...it has rolling hills and overlooks the river and is especially gorgeous in the fall. They even have haunted tours there in the fall. Its gorgeous to walk through and see all of the history.

I love that picture of life in the cemetary, people biking and enjoying. One day they will all be raised up. You have a way of putting your problems into perspective that is very wise. Your right to stop and consider that sassy is just normal and being sick or being buried makes it seem as trivial as it is.
They are just young and your training them now. I say that to my Hunny every day as this giant puppy can reach anything now and can get into more trouble!!!
Next time he chews up pa's slippers I think I'll point to Rasmus's grave.

I know you picked out what kind of dog your getting but just for fun go check out Solo Standards. She just moved to OK and she has some very unusual and beautiful poodles. Be fun to look.

That is a beautiful cemetery and I can see why you would find peace there.

Such a beautiful cemetery, Kat, truly! I also love the peace of a cemetery and kind of wish that those I've loved and lost that are all in different places could be in one place where I could just go and sit and run and wander and visit. The perspective you gain doing much thinking at all in a cemetery is such a gift, too, indeed.

I love cemetaries too. No matter where they are, they always look so beautiful, so peaceful and tranquil and like another poster said, the perfect place for thinking. I ALWAYs leave them feeling even more thankful for what...and WHO...I have in my life. I think my hubby, too, has come to appreciate them through my love for cemetaries (especially the old graves, which I wish could tell me stories)!

Again, I know I'd LOVE you IRL--I find cemeteries so peaceful and a wonderful place to visit. How cool that you have one that's been a constant in your life.

Words To Live By

Be grateful for each new day.
A new day that you have never lived before.
Twenty-four new, fresh, unexplored hours to use usefully and profitably.
We can squander, neglect, or use them.
Life will be richer or poorer by the way we use today.
Finish every day and be done with it.
You have done what you could;
some blunders and absurdities crept in;
forget them as soon as you can.
Tomorrow is a new day.
You shall begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be
encumbered with your old nonsense.

-Ralph Waldo Emerson
