Away We Go

I'm sitting here with my coffee willing myself to get off the couch and get going.  But I just can't do it.  It is a gray, dreary morning perfect for sitting around drinking coffee all wrapped up in a blanket.  But the boys are hungry already.  Starving! they tell me.  And I have to get dressed.  We have to go to the store.  I have to pack the kids' bags.  I have to pack the cooler.  I have to pack my bag. I have to get Grace ready.  Oh, and I can't forget the cold medicine.  Seems Joey is starting to get sick.  And I think Grace is teething again.

We are heading up north for the weekend.  I'm sure we have missed the peak color up there already but we are looking forward to it anyway.  Piles and piles of leaves to rake.  Crisp mornings.  Sunsets over the lake. Bonfires with marshmallows.  It will be lovely.  Once we get there.

Until then there is shopping to be done.  Packing, sorting, planning.  And also, the three hour drive.  I could skip over that part entirely.  I'm exhausted just thinking about it.

For now, I'm going to sit here with my coffee for a few more minutes before the madness begins and hope this weekend turns out to be half as good as I picture it in my mind.

What do you have planned for the weekend?  Madness?  Tranquility?  Or a little bit of both?

A little bit of both for me.

It's all madness here. I will have extra kids at my house this weekend while movers pack up one of my best friend's house (so sad!)
We are planning on going to the zoo today. I'm just hoping I don't lose someone. :)
Have a great weekend! Can't wait to hear all about it.

Tranquility? What's that?? ;)

I think we are going to try to squeeze a pumpkin patch outing into our weekend full of various unfun things to do...

Enjoy your coffee and then enjoy the weekend. I'm traveling to our fall conference and wondering why I booked an early flight that means I have to leave my house at 5:30am...

Enjoy... and enjoy your weekend, too!

Sounds like a great weekend! We have a little of both but I think more of the madness then tranquility! We have planned a pumpkin farm and homecoming football game!

ahhh, enjoy Kat! We're literally shutting off the phones and pretending to be away. Seriously, if one more person informs me that there's something else we are supposed to be at this month I may go completely bonkers.

Mass chaos as we finish packing the house, the moving truck, load, make sure I have everything I will need to fly with the girls, go, go, go...wait for the moving truck, unload, find a new daycare, start a new job...go, go, go, but we will be home and close to family so it is all work it! Please roast a marshmellow for me!

Leave your cell phones on the off setting and have a REAL break!! Sounds like you need it. I have some friends that volunteered to clean up my messy flower bed, amazing. I am supposed to be the supervisor.
and resist using my arm.

have a good time and get some rest!

That sounds absolutely wonderful and I'm incredibly jealous, even though I do sympathize with how much you'll do before you finally get to relax--you know, Monday morning when everyone's back in school. ;)

Hope it's wonderful.

I absolutely hate packing and can not imagine having to do so for 4 kids. Hope you have a great weekend. Gotta go...my boy are starving now too (even though they already ate breakfast)!

Hope you made it up there, hassle free! My hubs and I are enjoying one of our rare kid-free weekend thanks to fabulous grandparents who wanted to keep them for us! It's been sooo nice but I can't help but think about them and how much I miss them! :)

Well, you're probably "up north" by now, but I do hope you're having fun. If the weather is anything like it is here this weekend, it should be absolutely gorgeous. I'm jealous!

We went apple picking today and tomorrow we're doing Octoberfest at our church. Wheeeeeee!

Sounds like a fun weekend once you actually get there. Hope you are enjoying it!

My weekend involved the kind of madness that goes with a friend's milestone birthday. It was an all nighter and lots of fun. :)

Words To Live By

Be grateful for each new day.
A new day that you have never lived before.
Twenty-four new, fresh, unexplored hours to use usefully and profitably.
We can squander, neglect, or use them.
Life will be richer or poorer by the way we use today.
Finish every day and be done with it.
You have done what you could;
some blunders and absurdities crept in;
forget them as soon as you can.
Tomorrow is a new day.
You shall begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be
encumbered with your old nonsense.

-Ralph Waldo Emerson
