Joey was feeling a little anxious today as he returned to school. He was a bit nervous that the kids would tease him for Friday's little incident. And he was feeling especially remorse for Chantel* after what she endured. Joey was so appreciative of how kind she was to him, asking him if he was okay, even while her back and her hair were covered in... well, you get the picture.
Chantel* was so lovely that we decided she deserved a little present. When Joey was feeling 100% on Saturday we headed out to the dollar store and Joey picked out some pretty pens, notepads, a clipboard, and some stickers for his sweet classmate.
When we got home Joey made her a card too.
On the inside Joey wrote: "Dear Chantel*, I am sorry I got sick on you. Thank you for being nice. Love, Joey" He completed the card with a bunch of butterflies, which are her favorite.
Joey was very excited about the present. I think it made him feel as though he had a little control over the situation. That he could make it better. And I hope it does.
AND, Hopefully, this will be the last "sorry I puked on you" present that we will ever have to buy.

I have to wonder, has he given you a card after puking on you? I have to think he owes you a few from way back when he was tiny. ;-)
That's so sweet. Hope she's gracious. I also hope it is the very last sorry I puked on you present you ever give. :)
So sweet. What a great idea.
"thank you for being nice." That kills me with it's sweetness. You've taught him well.
It is so awesome that he did that for her! He is so sweet!
Aww...that is so sweet! I hope he has a great day at school!
Now that is adorable. You are a great mom to have such a wonderful boy (wonderful children in general). I love his card. Such a sweet picture. :)
Ooooh, what a little gentleman! I hope my boys are just as sweet when they're Joey's age!
Well, looking on the bright side of this event, that little girl obviously is cut out to become a professional in the medical field, having shown at this age that she can handle most anything. And,also -as cute as Joey is, maybe this will be the event to be remembered for her and him -who knows -they could grow up to be boyfriend/girlfriend and have that as their memorable moment when they each first really noticed each other.
Jeni- Funny you say that. This little girl has actually had a crush on Joey for some time. I wonder if she still does. ;)
So glad he is feeling better and how sweet of him to get her a gift and make a nice card. Hopefully she didn't catch anything from him! :)
Poor baby! How sweet to pick out a present for her. So happy to hear Joey's feeling better. Happy belated birthday too!!!
I don't know girlfriend...I'm thinking you need to get busy. I don't think Hallmark carries a "Sorry I Puked On You" line yet. This could be a GOLDMINE!! :)
That is so sweet of him. I'm sure she will love it.
Kat that was kind of him to do so.. You are bringing up such sweet children.. They will remember these things when they are older..
That was really sweet of him! :) I'm glad to hear he's feeling better.
That was exceptionally nice!
What a sweet boy!Gald to see he is feeling better.
That was so thoughtful of both of you. What a sweet kid that Joey is! My daughter thinks that "sorry I puked on you" should be a whole new category of cards at Hallmark. ;)
So sweet! The last time I got puked on I got...nothing. Boo!
This is so sweet, I literally got teary! You are going to have some sweet, sweet boys.
Joey sounds like such a fab little fella... and 'Chantel' must be a sweetie too :0)
He is the sweetest thing ever. Such a testament to the kind of mother you are Kat.
What a sweet idea..I'm sure it worked.
I'm sure that will make up for it! ;) Too sweet and cute!
He is a sweet kid and YOU are a brilliant mother to have thought of that! I can think of no better way to wrap up a puking incident. :)
BLESS! the poor chappie :(
Oh, this is just the kindest thing I've seen this week! I've been puked on by so many kids - no gift bag followed! Way to take a totally uncomfortable situation and turn it into a sweet gesture. Yeah for Joey!
and I will be trying this. next week....
poor guy. i hope the gift was received as graciously as it was given.
That's so sweet.
