Forgiveness

Peace and happiness have been restored.
After the disastrous morning on Friday I pulled each of my boys aside, one by one, and told them how sorry I was for my behavior. I told them that mommy was just being a mean grouch and that they did nothing wrong. I told them what wonderful boys they are and how sorry I was if I hurt their feelings. I asked them for forgiveness, and they gave it to me without hesitation.
When the boys woke up from their naps that afternoon it was a big love fest. Lots of hugs, and snuggles, and kisses, and "I love you"s. I think they appreciated my apology almost as much as I appreciated their forgiveness. And we were all happy to start our weekend with a clean slate.

I was just thinking the same thing as Mom24. You are a good example... for the boys and moms like me. :)

See that is good... always good to hug and make up! they are young but they understand that sometimes Mommies and Daddies have bad days.

The days I take out my stresses on my son...sigh, those are the days when I just want to alsp myself silly.
I should know better as the adult. But I can't be more thankful for my son's forgiving heart! They never hold it against us.

Glad serenity reigns once more. Go easy on yourself, Kat. You have many irons in the fire.

I think we all have those moments but it is people like you who put it all out there for us who hide in the closet with this! I aplaud you!

You are such an awesome mom Kat. I try to do the same thing when I feel like I've let my two down.

i think it's important for kids to hear us say we're sorry, and admit our mistakes. Then they know it's OK to do it, too!

That's the best. It's unconditional love. And how wonderful that you modeled it so they know when they mess up, you will forgive them and still love them too.

I am so glad to hear. I have to agree with the others here. You really do set a great example for your children. It's amazing how much they appreciate apologies and forgiveness from others, especially from us as parents.

Words To Live By

Be grateful for each new day.
A new day that you have never lived before.
Twenty-four new, fresh, unexplored hours to use usefully and profitably.
We can squander, neglect, or use them.
Life will be richer or poorer by the way we use today.
Finish every day and be done with it.
You have done what you could;
some blunders and absurdities crept in;
forget them as soon as you can.
Tomorrow is a new day.
You shall begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be
encumbered with your old nonsense.

-Ralph Waldo Emerson
