The Poll

This week will prove to be one of the busiest we've had in a while, though recently we've had some real doosies. I don't feel much like talking about it now so I'll just ignore it. They do say that ignorance is bliss, yes? I tend to agree. Perhaps I'll have the energy to fill you in on the details tomorrow. But it is a rainy Monday today, and I have loads of laundry to do, so I'll keep this post short and sweet and ignore the hysteria that will most likely be coming this week.

Thank you all for your input on our girlie names. It was so fun to read your thoughts on our favorites. Here are the ones that are making it onto the poll, and the reasons why:

It looks like Grace is your favorite so far, which is very exciting for me. I know some were concerned with it's gaining popularity but it isn't even in the top twenty in our area and the only Grace we know is 90 some years old. And there were far fewer Graces last year than the year before in our area. So, I am less concerned about the popularity of it than I was before. I also liked what TAC had to say about it. "Having a 3-year-old "Grace" of my own, of course my vote will be Grace! It is becoming popular, but every time you tell someone her name, they always 1)love it 2) say how pretty that name is 3) have a story about a Grace they once knew!!" I've discovered the same thing in telling people we are considering Grace. Plus, there is the added bonus of little lady having the same initials (if we go with Grace Marie) as my mom. I think that is neat since all of the boys' middle names are after their grandpa or dad. And then of course you factor in my longtime obsession with the name, and it is clear that Grace is in the lead in my mind.

Bella is another favorite of yours. And while it is probably my second favorite it seems that every time I turn around someone has named their dog Bella. Hmpf. AND, when people ask the boys' names I always go in order; Joseph, Thomas, and Benjamin. Add Bella to that and the Benjamin, Bella thing doesn't sound great to me. Plus our last name begins with a B (and is two syllables) and then it just becomes a tongue twister or something. Still, I can't bring myself to take it off our list just yet. I love the name. Isabella (which a few of you have suggested using as a formal name for Bella) was #4 in our area (and has been used by two of my friends already) which is way too high up on the popularity list for me. And I can't hear Isabella without thinking of my brother's crazy, round as a barrel, springer spaniel that they affectionately nicknamed Dizzy Izzy. So Isabella (though it is a pretty name) is not an option for us. Just Bella. And Bella isn't even in the top 100 so far. Yep. I still like Bella.

I was surprised by how many of you loved Lauryn. I have loved that name for a long time but every time I bring that name up to people I've gotten mixed reviews. It was nice to see that there are a lot of you out there that really like it too. I guess the only problem I have with it is the meaning of the name is pretty weak and the nicknames aren't my favorite. Still, it is definitely going on the poll.

The last one added to the poll is Audrey. The hubby is rolling his eyes right now because he doesn't even like that name very much so that should immediately disqualify it. But it doesn't. Cause I love it, and now I know you do too. So there. ;)

And those are our top four that make it onto the poll. I still love all the other names on the list but there are reasons in my mind that they don't work. I think they will still all make it onto the list we take to the hospital (and maybe even some we haven't thought of yet), but probably aren't real contenders.

Knowing how I feel about the names, and taking into account your feelings of each of the names, which of the four is your favorite? Please scoot on over to my sidebar and cast your vote now!

Hmm. This post wasn't as short as I'd intended it to be. Long winded much?

Lakeviewer- Ha! I know. Isn't that goofy? Especially since once baby girl is born I will look at her and just "know" what name is right for her. It is a gut feeling and what name I think fits her once I see her.
But for now, all this silliness is fun. ;)

What if you called her Audrey Bella Grace B____(2 syllables)? Who says you have to stick with just two names?

ok, I'll pick one (hmmm,

I love Grace..I think we would have used it for a first name if we didn't have a single syllable last name (and it's very hard when they both have one)!

I love that Grace is in the lead! I adore that name.

When we had our daughter, the name we chose for her was incredibly rare. And while I worked in a nursery, I was able to see the trends in baby names. However, once me moved to the east coast, it seemed that her name is VERY popular here, but I don't mind. We love her name and chose it especially for her for many special reasons :)

Benjamin would have been Grace if he had been a girl, so I too love that name and it does go back to Little House also!
I absolutely love the spelling of Lauryn though, I'd be tempted by that name just for the spelling alone *smile!
GOod luck with whatever you choose!!!

I'm finally catching up. Since I was too late for the last poll, I'll tell you that I would have voted for Grace. Since you are asking again, I'll still vote Grace. Give me some other names next week, and I'm betting I'll vote Grace. Well, unless you add Maggie to the list. ;)

While I was initially torn between Grace and Audrey, after re-reading your reasons for liking Grace, I think that should be the name for your little princess! :-)

I'm thinking the along the same lines as Jerri, only my idea is

GRACE BELLA MARIE! Now that has a snappy ring to it. Out here in the south it is quite common to use two names.

A friend of mine named her little girl Laura Grace, and that's what she is called.

This is s fun that maybe you should think twice about his being your last. Maybe you could have two girls and three boys?

Well, if "Elizabeth" has fallen off the register then I will have to go with "Grace Marie." So sweet and delicate. "Bella" just doesn't do it for me (and everyone will just assume she's Isabella with a truncated nickname -- I'm not much on nicknames.)

It's the parts you're NOT sharing that have taken me to my knees. I need not know details to see a need for prayer. May God bless you and keep you in peace as you journey on.

XO ~~ Debbie

Sorry I have not been commenting lately - have been meaning to!

I love Grace - Grace Marie sounds beautiful!

Hope you are feeling well. Have been thinking of you lots! HUGS!

You can always wait until she's born and whisper both in her ears--we did that with Travis--he responded to Travis and ignored "Brock." Hence the choice of name.

I voted for Audrey. I liked how it sounded with the boys names. Very feminine and has it's own character.

I voted Grace:)

You are right. When I do meet someone who just named their baby "Grace", I do smile and comment about how much I like the name. It is just lovely.

Grace Marie... wonderful name. I like Isabella, but understand your reluctance. Don't like Lauryn because it'll become Laurie, and Audrey well it's okay. Opinionated right? Well, you asked & I voted for Grace! Good luck & congratulations on the Post of the Day nod from David.

We have the name Belle and Grace in my family. Grace is my neices middle name. her first name is Emmaline and goes by Emma most of the time. Then we have Isabelle. Only a hand full of people call her Belle. I think it makes her think she's a princess. :-) I have an Ava. Other names we like and will think about in the future are Hannah, Sophia, Keira, and Kylene.

I really like Grace. You could call her Gracie :-) Have fun picking a name for your little one!

All of your names are very, very pretty. I know a lot of little wee Graces - although it's such a lovely classic name that I don't think that matters. And Audrey is lovely, too!

Kristen said...

I think you need to use Grace, because if you don't you will always wonder if you should have. Especially with the significance with your mom! She will appreciate that tie to her Nanna when she is older!!

Can't wait to hear!

I vote for Lauryn 100% because it goes well with your boys names and it is way too cute how you spell it with a y like your name! :)

Words To Live By

Be grateful for each new day.
A new day that you have never lived before.
Twenty-four new, fresh, unexplored hours to use usefully and profitably.
We can squander, neglect, or use them.
Life will be richer or poorer by the way we use today.
Finish every day and be done with it.
You have done what you could;
some blunders and absurdities crept in;
forget them as soon as you can.
Tomorrow is a new day.
You shall begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be
encumbered with your old nonsense.
