One More

A few months ago I was all meme'd out. I just couldn't do another one. I even grabbed the Meme Graveyard badge that Jenni had made and posted it bravely on my sidebar. Still, when I was recently tagged by Cara at Mia Due Bambini and Stephanie at Adventures in Babywearing I thought I would do just one more. I haven't done this meme before, I reasoned, so I will break my own rules. As we all know, I don't like to follow rules anyway. And keeping in the not following rules I will not post the instructions or tag anyone. Ha! I'm such a rebel!

-What were you doing 10 years ago?

"It was the best of times and the worst of times" for me in 1998. I was just finishing up a very busy theater year. I was on stage with the leads in 5 or 6 plays/musicals that year and I was exhausted. I had also just gotten my first apartment and was living on my own in a city where I knew no one working at a new job as a mortgage processor/underwriter. That part of my life was great.

At the same time I had finally let go of a three year relationship that I had very high hopes for. The realization of it ending was absolutely devastating to me. I bounced back and forth from putting on a good, strong front, to curling up in a ball on my apartment floor sobbing. You know, your typical heartbroken girl.
I had sworn off any more relationships. I was going to be on my own. Enough of guys. Blahh. Little did I know that I would get a glimpse into my future on July 4th when I met Todd for the very first time.
Some of the shows
(That Madcap Moon)
I'm in the back row second from the right.
(Man of LaMancha)
Down front in the flowered dress with the massive hat.
(Babes in Toyland)
Backstage getting ready for the show.

-What were you doing 5 years ago?
I was adjusting to being a first-time mom. It was an absolutely magical time. I couldn't believe how much fun I was having as a mom. Being a stay-at-home mom was a dream come true for me. And it really helped that Joey was the easiest baby in the history of the world. Joey was my little buddy. We went everywhere together. Here we are visiting my friend Jennifer in Madison in July of 2003.
(nice bra strap)
- 5 things you need to do today?
1- Wash all the sheets
2- Visit Dad
3- Remake all the beds with fresh sheets (I am dreading it. I HATE making up the bunk beds)
4- Clean up basement (we had some water in the basement after all the storms) and put everything back in its spot
5- Go for a run (once basement is cleaned up and treadmill is usable again)
-5 snacks you enjoy?
1- Potato chips and french onion dip
2- Ice cream Drumsticks
3- Chocolate covered strawberries (my favorite!!!)
4- Summer fruit (I know, bo-ring!)
5- Fried cheese curds (it's a Wisconsin thang)
- Things you would do if you were a billionaire?
How do you know I'm not? HAHAHA!!!
Um. Too much money makes me nervous. I would feel really guilty having that much money. So I would have to give most of it away, and then I wouldn't be a billionaire anymore. Then Todd would be super pissed cuz I'm sure he wouldn't have a problem being rich.
Let's see. I'd definitely set up our families. Then I would give a crapload to church and St. Jude's Hospital, and any other charity that was worthy. Then I would travel all over the world 20 times. Oh! And I would spend the rest of my money finding another energy source other than oil. Can you freaking believe the gas prices? HELL-O!?!?!
Hmm. Doesn't sound like I have THAT much trouble being a billionaire after all.
-Places you have lived?
- 3 different cities in Wisconsin
- wedded bliss
- Virginia
- on the brink of insanity
- Jobs you've had?
-Ugh. Who cares? They were boring, more boring, and most boring! All banking stuff mostly. Sa-nooze!!
***********************************

Just as I was finishing up this meme I found out I was tagged for another one. The book meme. I haven't done that one either so, fine Tonya, I'll do that one too. I kinda have to post the rules for this one, but I'm STILL not tagging.
1. Pick up the nearest book.
2. Open to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the next five sentences.
The only book I have close to me right now is U2 by U2. It is a collection of pics and stories from all the members of U2. It is awesome. Unfortunately page 123 is a picture so I went to page 125 (the next page with writing). It is the middle of a paragraph by Larry who is talking about their first video shoot.
"There was a scene where the director, Meiert Avis, asked me to splash through a puddle. I said, 'I'll get my new Docs wet.' He said, 'Yeah, well that's what we want for the scene.' I told him, 'Forget it.' I wasn't getting the boots wet.
HaHA! All done! Two more memes done!

You know what? I was tagged for the same two memes on the same day as well, long ago. Ha! LOL

I always assumed you were a billionaire.

When I met my husband, I was done with relationships, too.

I love the white dress you're wearing as you get ready backstage. Do you ever get the urge to go back to the stage?

I am so with you on spending money to find alternative energy sources! Why aren't many billionaires doing that??

Every once in a while a meme is fun. :)

Mary Beth- YES! All the time! I am a bit out of practice, though. It has been almost 10 years since I've been in a show. My hubby has never even seen me in a show, although he has seen me perform on stage.
Someday, when I have more time, I'll do it again. :)

PS - I stole your book meme - I don't need to be tagged if it has to do with books:)

I love hearing more about you-- how did I miss that you were a theatre gal? I thought you were going to give out TMI in the comments when you said "My hubby has never even seen me in a show, although he has seen me perform.." (aahh, my eyes!) "on stage." (oh. ok).

I never knew or heard you say the theatre part either?? Very cool! And my favorite for sure has to be the flowered dress and gigantic hat! LOVE IT!

Great meme! I too am almost meme'd out. I am seriously considering stealing your meme graveyard button! :)

Whoopsy! I need to put up Jenni's meme death thing, too! Thanks for reminding me. But, like you, I love Cara & would be tempted.

I definitely agree about the top bunk thing. I always got my hubs to do those. I like the meme, it's always fun to get a little glimpse into someone's life. I always loved theater too. Unfortunately, I didn't have the courage to go for it post-high school.

U2 rocks my world, literally and figuratively.

About eleven years ago that would have been in the same place as you theatre-wise! In Joseph & The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Do Black Patent Leather Shoes Really Reflect Up, The Velveteen Rabbit, and All My Sons. Whew, I am so glad I am not that busy now- well, at least that it's just my kids keeping me that busy!

Words To Live By

Be grateful for each new day.
A new day that you have never lived before.
Twenty-four new, fresh, unexplored hours to use usefully and profitably.
We can squander, neglect, or use them.
Life will be richer or poorer by the way we use today.
Finish every day and be done with it.
You have done what you could;
some blunders and absurdities crept in;
forget them as soon as you can.
Tomorrow is a new day.
You shall begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be
encumbered with your old nonsense.

-Ralph Waldo Emerson
