My New View

PhotoStory Friday
Hosted by Cecily and Lolli

I love the new view when I look in my rearview mirror. Being able to see all of those shiny, happy faces smiling back at me gives me warm fuzzies. It is a beautiful picture.

But I am not afraid to admit to you all that I cried while I was taking Grace's pretty pink babyseat out of the car. It seemed like the end of an era. The last of the baby years is quickly fading and all of the evidence is being cast aside.

It is a good thing that Todd has put his foot down and decided that four (he was perfectly happy with TWO) is our final number because otherwise right about now I would be plotting our next child. Then before you know it we would be buying our very own supersized van to haul our children around. And sooner or later I would be confused with Michelle Dugger (our only differences would be our hair and perhaps the fact that there is NO WAY I would be as sweet and calm as Michelle Dugger) as I lug my 20 children around in our family bus.
But these are MY four children. And I know how lucky I am.
I just love my rear view.

We stopped at 3, and I've always regretted not having 4. My DIL said her mom was always saying she should have had 4, so I guess our sweet girl took care of that. They had baby # 5 in June!

Your kids are lovely!

I would love a rearview similar to that one day. For now, my two do the job really well.

Beautiful.

I feel the same way as I see Leiella leaving different baby things behind, when I have to turn her carseat around I'm afraid I'll cry. But it will be nice to see ALL of their happy little faces staring back at me like that.

That is a beautiful view! My last baby is growing up to...six already. I've been passing a lot of his preschool age toys along to a friend. It still gets me choked up, to see his "baby" stuff leaving the house. Crazy, but I've already started plotting, how I'll be the best grandma ever! ;) I love those baby years.

I love my view too! Unfortunately (or fortunately-depends on the way you look at it), we have not called it quits yet. I am pretty sure though our next will be our last but we still might have to resort to a big Duggar size van. Sigh....oh well...

Awww I love this shot! The sweet smiling faces! I was wanting to do a pic like this too, but haven't had a chance to...ahem, ...tidy up the van. LOL! ;-)

I think 3 is our magic number. I'm certainly no Michelle Duggar either - ha!

Lol! "Plotting" your next child. That is what happens isn't it? Giving up that baby stuff is hard! Don't tell anyone (especially not my 13-year-old), but I have several pacifiers in my desk drawer that I'm NOT throwing out. Call me crazy. But I'm not ready.

Very sweet. The only "car seat" we have left is a booster. Sigh. Talk about sad.

I love your view! What a handsome and pretty group! I know exactly how you feel. Don switched the car seats in our car while I was in the shower so I wouldn't make a big deal, I was shocked and teary as we put Jillian forward facing. But I got to play with her toes while we drove!

I love it! Sometimes I could just copy and paste your posts in 6 months (wish I could since I am not half the writer you are). It is like looking into my future. What a great ending to the family our little girls are!

I love this post! And I feel exactly the same way you do! At least you talked your hubs into four. Mine stopped me at 3. ;)

Oh I hear ya, we had a garage sale and I sold a lot if not all of our baby stuff. It was so bittersweet.

I think it is THE PERFECT view. Your kids are awesome, truly.

But why is your minivan so clean????

Kat said...

Rima- Um, the mini is clean partly because I have a touch of OCD, partly because the boys like to throw all of their garbage over their head into the back hatch, and partly because I cropped the picture so that you couldn't see the empty water bottle, jackets, kleenex, and other junk on the floor by Ben and Grace. ;)

Precious! I'm glad your hair would be better than Mrs. Duggar's! It's pretty bad! How in the world she has so much patience is beyond me! I only have two and feel like the wicked witch of the west sometimes!

I'd love a couple more... I cry every time my youngest outgrows something. She turns 5 in 2 months. FIVE. A whole freaking hand! I am going to be a wreck...

Awwwwww - I can't wait to look in my rear-view mirror and see 4 little people looking back at me! Full cars are happy (okay, and loud) cars! :-)

I've been way out of the blogging and blog reading loop but this is, indeed, a beautiful view. Gorgeousness.

Words To Live By

Be grateful for each new day.
A new day that you have never lived before.
Twenty-four new, fresh, unexplored hours to use usefully and profitably.
We can squander, neglect, or use them.
Life will be richer or poorer by the way we use today.
Finish every day and be done with it.
You have done what you could;
some blunders and absurdities crept in;
forget them as soon as you can.
Tomorrow is a new day.
You shall begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be
encumbered with your old nonsense.

-Ralph Waldo Emerson
