DUE

Stick a fork in me, I'm DONE!

Or maybe not.

Here we are. We have arrived at the baby's due date, and still no baby. We went to the doctor and apparently, I am no closer to having this baby than I was two weeks ago. I mean, technically I suppose I am, but I'm still not dilated or effaced. Ho-hum.

I would REALLY appreciate it if baby girl could find a way to make her grand entrance SOON. You see, Todd has worked very hard to try and clear his work schedule so that he can have at least a few days at home with us when baby arrives. He has attempted this with each birth of our children and because they were either early or late I have never had Todd home with me for more than a half a day after baby arrived. This time he cleared (mostly cleared) his schedule for a larger amount of time, and it is still running out. Next week his schedule will pick up again. When you are self employed (meaning, no work= no paycheck) there is no such thing as family leave or extended vacations. He is starting to panic. He really, really would love to be able to spend some quality time with his boys and his new baby girl and be able to help me out when I am fresh out of the hospital. And I know I would certainly welcome his help. So, if you have any extra prayers y'all could send out for us to have this baby ASAP that would be great.

And I think I can finally say that I am done with this pregnancy. Up until now I have been content to wait it out because I really do love being pregnant, but my excitement at finally seeing baby girl has taken over my love of this pregnancy. Well, that and I would really love to be able to feel my fingers again. Swollen feet and hands, aching back, stuffy nose, uncomfortable sleep. I mean, I know it all sounds fun and glamorous, but I'm willing to give it up for baby girl. ;)

I have always believed that when baby is ready to come, the baby will come. I don't really think that there is anything you can do to make a baby to come before he/she is ready. Besides, I have already tried all the "recommended" old wives tales on getting your baby out when I was late with Ben. You know, spicy foods, sex, foot rubs, long walks, blah, blah, blah. None of it worked. Do you have anything that has definitely worked for you? I may just be willing to give it another shot. You know, just in case.

So anywho, here is the last (hopefully) shot of the baby belly. This is me at TEN months. DUE DATE!
P.S. - Sorry about teasing you all with that last post title. It seemed to really miff a few of you. I loved Dysfunctional Mom's comment - " *GLARE* The end of your pregnancy is obviously making you MEAN!!!:P~~ ". Hehehe. What can I say? A girl's gotta have some fun, right? ;)

You still look so cute...how do you do it? I'm a mess at 40 weeks and when I went a week over due with Spike I think I might have made people stop taking pictures! ;) You know what worked for me I swear in getting Spike out, taking it easy. I also tried every thing I was told or could think of the whole week after his due date and it wasn't until we went to the lake and I spent the day relaxing, eating watermelon and putting my feet in the water that those contractions when from teasers to the real thing by the end of the day. So that is my suggestion. Bring a few people along to help with the kids so that you can spend the day stress free (or close to it) some where peaceful just enjoying time with your family and feeling all loving and mushy inside. :)

Checking back daily...so exciting!

I can sympathize with your husband. My hubby is a truck driver and with our first son he was in Oklahoma on my due date (I was in Oregon and luckily the baby decided to be 8 days late) and then he left back on the road for 6 weeks right after our son was born. With our second, we did all we could to make sure he'd be home but he still had to leave again a few days after his birth. It sucks.

Hope your little one arrives soon!

And here I thought, when your blog title showed up in my reader, I thought we were going to get to meet baby girl.

Guess I was wrong. Hang in there, she will get here. That means from there to here!

Praying that all will go 'smoothly'!

She'll come when she is good and ready. Everyone, chill. Get some uninterrupted sleep while you still can.

Bless your heart, we can't see the swelling or the misery because you just look adorable.

You can try cat stretches. You get on your hands and knees and arch your back as high as you can and then let your back and belly sink as low as you can. It won't start your labor but it will move your cervix to front and center and place it where it needs to be for labor to get going. Old labor and delivery trick. Enemas are good for a couple of centimeters.
But you like you said, when she is ready to be born she will come. If you aren't even effaced then just sit back and wait. You know due dates are an educated estimate but they aren't rocket science.
She will come and she is going to just be darling. Did you decide to name her Grace?

She'll be here soon. And you make waiting look so beautiful! Sending good vibes your way.

Oh Kat, do you know what this means?! It means, pack your bags it's going to happen soon!! You have to get to the point where you are really tired of being pregnant-- it's the survival thing the body does.

I'll be back tomorrow to see how much she weighed :-)

Sorry...wish I had some advice! The only thing that's ever worked for me was waiting. I will be praying that she makes her grand entry today!

She's just going to be fashionably late, just like a girl. She'll be here and in your arms before you know it. You look fantastic for 10 months!

trust me, if i had a way to make this happen i would. all three of mine were overdue and nothing i tried coaxed them along either. i will pray though.

MQ was two weeks late, so obviously none of the stuff worked for me, either. a friend of mine told me that castor oil works, but really isn't worth the other crap (he he... pardon the pun) you have to go through to get there)

Hmmm, the only fool-proof way that I've discovered to get labor started is to finally accept that I will truly, honestly be pregnant forever. Once I believe that down to my core (usually after several days or even a week of doing everything I can to go into labor), labor starts up the next day. Works like a charm!

Of course, it's a little hard on your psyche. :) Good luck!

I completely understand...the waiting is no fun. I know she will make a grand entrance soon. :)

LOVE the belly shots. You are so cute.

I have less experience with births than you do... but I can report that, when my son was four days late, I sent out an email to close friends expressing my frustration and (jokingly) asking for "labor vibes." And that very night, labor began!

Wow. You are DUE! YAY! This is exciting. Here's praying that little sweetie comes out soon! :)

Seriously...there is NO way I would even be sort of smiling at 40+ weeks. You are a SAINT. And you look fabulous. I should hate you for that, but I can't. You're overdue and that would just be mean. :)

Good luck. I'm crossing all my fingers and toes that you're actually at the hospital as I am typing this comment...

I was always told by my midwife that it isn't just sex you have to have the big O to get things started. But I can't actually say if that works though one of my friends swears by it.

So does your baby counter go into negative days now? hee hee!

You still look great but I know you are super ready. I'll pray she makes her debut soon so you can have time with the hubby home. I know that's MUCH needed.

Hugs! (although it might be kinda hard with both of our bellys...) ;D

Still onb my blogging hiatus but I thought of you today and wondered if you'd had that baby. You look great, btw! I'll check back in soon to see how things are going.

Take care and best of luck!

I was four days over due when I had my little one.... I'm not sure any of the things that I tried trigger the labor... but it seems that walking helped me!!! And I agree with everyone else, YOU LOOK AWESOME!!!!

Can't wait to meet the little lady!!!

Girls are typically "fashionably late". My boys were a months early- then my baby girl was 2 weeks late. go figure. My labor with her only lasted an hour, so there is always a bright side of waiting.

heh
heh

hang in there Chica!!!

You still look SO wonderful! If I didn't love you so much, I'd hate you.
I'm sending Baby Girl evactuation vibes!! Get outta there, girlfriend!

Here's to a speedy entrance by that baby girl! I tried a glass of wine. It was a nice way to induce labor after all the spicy Thai food didn't work.

Melanie said...

I drank a lot of "Yogi Tea" (made of spices like Cinnamon, Ginger,...)
I wanted my baby girl, to be born on her due date, because then my parents could take care of my son and not my mother in law would...
It worked - she arrived and was our perfect christmas present :o)
(With my son I had to drink castor oil with almond butter and juice - the contraction coctail :o) - it worked, but tasted horrible and so was the birth :o)
All the best for you & the Baby!

Over here from 'House of Lime' to wish you a safe and speedy delivery SOON!

P.S. I remember, for me it wasn't so much about getting the baby out but the anticipation of finally getting to meet the little person... But that was almost 19 1/2 and 16 1/2 yrs. ago so my memory is kinda shot.

You still look awesome!!! I was lucky to not make it to my due date with any of my boys so I feel for ya. You look beautiful and happy though. It's exciting to think it could be literally any minute now!!

Lime sent me. All my 3 boys were late! I totally know what what you're talking about! I almost bought some herbs for my last one, but he finally came on his own. My kids are in their 20's now. I just want to tell you 1) you have a beautiful family. 2) How lucky for baby girl to have 3 big brothers and the other way around. 3) You are going through the hardest years right now - it does get easier! 4) That girl will come out!

Lisa said...

You look too cute to have a baby already :) Here's my advice to get her out - have your doc strip your membranes. Will he/she? I hope so for your sake :)

She'll come when she's good and ready . . . get used to it, that's how some little ladies are their WHOLE LIFE. (She's already reshaping the family by wrappin gyou all around her l'il fingers. And you're loving every minute of it!)

Stay well. You're in my prayers.

p.s.
I'm a bit latet with blogging rounds . . . maybe she's already made her debut . . . ; D Happy days a'comin'!!

Words To Live By

Be grateful for each new day.
A new day that you have never lived before.
Twenty-four new, fresh, unexplored hours to use usefully and profitably.
We can squander, neglect, or use them.
Life will be richer or poorer by the way we use today.
Finish every day and be done with it.
You have done what you could;
some blunders and absurdities crept in;
forget them as soon as you can.
Tomorrow is a new day.
You shall begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be
encumbered with your old nonsense.

-Ralph Waldo Emerson
