Someone got her first fishing rod and spent endless hours perfecting her cast.
The more seasoned fishermen enjoyed a bit of fishing as well. The kids actually got to witness a plane landing on and taking off of the lake right in front of them. To say they were thrilled would be a gigantic understatement.
There was the first ice cream of the season. With sprinkles, too!
And of course time spent remembering the real reason for the extended weekend.
Flowers were planted. Finishing touches were put on the yard. My new garden was put together and vegetables and herbs planted. We fought through the nasty little black flies up north, too many ticks, rain, cooler than normal temperatures, and crankiness, and we managed to have a pretty productive weekend.
Only 11 more days left of school. We're all just a little bit excited.
(Fine. Not so wordless. More like Wordy. Oops.)

Hey :) sounds good to me :) hope u are feeling better !
Was her arm sore the next day from so much casting?
I've NEVER seen an airplane land on the water. That would be cool!
I see Dad finished his ice cream really fast so he can help the little ones with the "drips" ! LOL!
We're on to you, Dad!
Wonderful! Glad to see the kids clapping for the veterans. It looks like yo had an All-American weekend.
Good for you! That's what it's all about, making the best of things, isn't it? Hope you have many more wonderful weekends at the lake, hopefully with less ticks and warmer temps.
Bijoux- Yes! Hats off, stand up, hand over your heart as the flag passes, and then clap for the veterans. As I'm looking at the photo now it kind of makes me angry to look at the people across the street sitting. Everyone on our side was doing the right thing and standing up.
Such a happy and busy little family you're raising! They have got the best memories--a gift from you!

Sounds like a fun weekend!
Looks like the perfect weekend to wrap up the school year, and almost get started on summer.
Fishing, ice cream and gardening. Yep. Perfect!
looks like a wonderful weekend. i worked all weekend so we couldnt do much. we went to Celebrate Depere on sunday and then watched the fireworks and came home. i had to get up on Monday morning and go feed my old people as I call them. take care of them kiddos. they are growing so fast. i remember you just telling us that you were preggos with grace and now she is such a big girl.
So um, when are you going to adopt me?
Y'all know how to enjoy a holiday weekend, for sure!
Did you keep any fish?
I ADORE the photo of them at the parade, so sweet.
And I have to say your oldest looks like he is changing so much these days! Where did our little boys go?? WAAAHHH!!
Elaine- I know! I just gave the boys haircuts and now Joey looks all grown up. :(
love it, everyone is so grown! Glad your letting Grace's hair grow long again. When I was little I liked casting more than fishing. I hated seeing fishes with hooks in their mouths and gasping. But I loved my fishin pole.
