"The days are long but the years are short."
Truer words were never spoken. I have ALL of my kids together, in my care, under my roof, for only a few more years. Already I can feel a slight pulling away as friends and schedules and classes and practices take up more and more of our precious family time. I long for summers past when nothing was more exciting than a day, together, swimming at the lake.
At least I can still bribe them with the promise of a malt cup.

You'll blink and they'll all be out of high school, so just treasure every moment you can together. I know I keep saying that, but it is incredible how fast time goes especially once they hit those high school years. It looks like this was a fun day though!

Betty's right about the HS years. And then college is over in a moment. This is my first year since 1994 that I don't have a back-to-schooler. I'm ok ;)
Great.
My grands are booked solid throughout the summer...sometimes with parents, but mostly elsewhere. Parents have demanding jobs. I often wonder how they will handle the sudden silence in a few years. Perhaps they will just reach out and be more social than ever.
Blessings....
T'is why you have to balance a life for yourself as you guide them in to navigating theirs so when they are grown and go out to live you won't feel slighted or left alone (empty nest syndrome).
Rhapsody- I think I needed this very advice tonight. I was feeling badly and worried that I am not the same mom my kids always had since I started back to school. I just don't want to take any time away from them but sometimes I have to. Part of the reason I'm back to school know is so I have something else to focus on when they start flying the nest.
It does go fast--but keep enjoying the fun while it lasts!
