We are all lying around the living room stretching our extended bellies after dinner when Joey looks over at me and says, "So, you think we are gonna have another baby?"
"Well, I don't know. Why do you ask?" I answer back.
Joey shrugs and says, "I don't know."
"Would you like another baby?" I ask him.
"Uh-huh! I want a baby girl!" Joey says without hesitation.
Tommy picks up on the conversation, and of course he has an opinion too.
"I don't want another baby! I like OUR baby!" he says with a worried look on his face.
I had to stifle my laughter but assured him, "Honey, we would DEFINITELY keep our baby. But we would have another one too. We would KEEP you, and Joey, and Benny, but then have another one too."
"Well, then I want a boy baby." Tommy says.
"I want a girl baby." Joey butts in.
"Why do you want a girl baby?" Tommy asks Joey.
"Cuz we don't have one of those." Joey wisely answers back and then asks, "Why do you want a baby boy?"
"Because we have nice boys." Tommy says.
"Would the baby sleep in Benny's crib with him?" Joey wonders out loud.
"No, Ben would probably move into your room and you and Tommy and Ben would all share. The baby would sleep in the baby's room in the crib." I correct him.
"Would Ben sleep in my bed? With me?" Joey continues his interrogation.
"No. Ben would have his own bed. We would have to move your dresser around and then try to squeeze the bed in where the dresser is."
"Oh just forget it then. I don't want another baby." Joey says, clearly exhausted at the idea of all the work that would go into having another baby.
Yep, Joey. Babies are work. But they are so worth it.

Your kids are so funny. Moving the furniture is only the tip of the iceberg.
Somehow, I follow that logic. NOW GO HAVE A BABY. Your blog audience awaits it. :)
We have that conversation a lot. My oldest has tried to convince me that we could fit 10 kids in our house. I don't know how he figures that!! I try to explain that 3 is our magic number and that is all we are having. (hubby had the ole snip snip!) LOL
How funny! I bet that would be the most overprotected and spoiled little girl on the planet with such sweet older brothers!
I am so digging your boys! They certainly do think it all the way through...I'm thinking the lawyer personality Todd provided is alive and well in those two!
And, Tommy loving so much on Ben is simply adorable. He's afraid of losing his baby!
Today I told mine his best friend got a new baby brother. "Do you want a new baby brother?" "No. I just want a new sticker." Umm. Huh?
a word of advice...if they come to you with tears, begging for a baby and you are not quite ready for another one, DO NOT tell them to talk to God about it. (i did this after repeatedly explaining that SOME day mommy and daddy MIGHT have another baby...when this did not comfort the child i advised prayer..thinking of comfort not request making ...wound up pregnant the next month...from the child's mouth to god's ears...i'm telling ya)
Do you have an announcement for your eagerly awaiting audience???
How cute are your little boys? Praying for another baby for your sweet family whether it be boy or girl! :)
So cute!!
My kids don't ask for any more babies. However, my son has announced he will one day adopt 1000 kids. Have fun with that! Oh, and 1000 dogs too. Yep, fine. AFTER you leave my house!
Do I have a vote in this????
"I want a baby girl in your brood. I couldn't imagine the beauty she would be!"
You should tell your very wise boys that the work wouldn't be too hard, because that's why you have a daddy!!!! LOL!
Hmmmm.....I'm starting to wonder if you really aren't going to have another baby soon. I won't ask, I don't want to be nosey, but if you would like to tell me that you have plans for another munchkin I would be okay with that!
Thanks for your sweet words to me. I find strength in you. Truly, I do. You are just such a joy and so strong. I need some of that myself.
Hugs!
Are you trying to tell us something? :)
Sweet, sweet boys you have.
Sooo... is this leading up to a big announcement? or just more practice at home?
Too cute.
Yes! Have more babies! Since I am not currently pregnant, I love reading other blogs who ARE. :) Makes for good blogging, and babies are so fun. I would have 12 if my husband wouold allow it.
How cute are they!? I agree, go have a baby girl, since I can't so that I can live vicariously! As my 3-year-old would say, "Yeah, that's a GREAT idea!"
Either way, you are blessed by God.
So Cute.
Our 4 year old was worried that his little sister was going somewhere when we told him we were having another. I think he finally gets it and he will definitely get it (whether he wants to or not) in a couple of months.

My DD (5) wanted another baby until she figured out I would have to go to the hospital to have it. Now--no way. She got a bit traumatized when hubby and I went away for a 2nd honeymoon (first for us!) this January. I wish we could have another one. At 42 though, and with 4 healthy children, I think we're done. Go for it for me!
awww that is REALLY cute! :)
We want a girl baby, too!!
Like it's really up to them, right? HA! I love how they have different perspectives on the gender. So cute!
I must say that we are thrilled to death to be welcoming our girl baby in about 6 weeks. My three boys are so excited for her to get here, though we've had quite a bit of explaining to do about where babies come from without going too deeply into the nitty-gritty. :)
You've got such cute boys that I'm sure you'd make a cute girl, too. :)
Hopefully your pregnancy would go better than this one has for me; it's been rougher on me than all three of the others combined. Hopefully you'd sail through yours.
I am with everyone else...is this an announcement? Hmmm
Having three boys, do you constantly get the comments about trying for a girl? We get it all the time for a boy, then when the fourth was another girl everyone kinda figured we were done and bummed. Now I have fun surprising them all when I tell them we would love to have more! The girls all agree, but are split and undecisive about boy/girl/boy/girl/twin?? Huh??
What sweet boys. You must definitely made another baby...they're just too cute :)
Decision making is so easy for kids. I'm jealous.
haha! "just forget it then" that sounds like me. ever impatient. :)
You do have "nice boys" :) So funny how the sleeping/living arrangements was the deal breaker ;)
So freakin' sweet!
That is so sweet that Joey wanted a girl cause you didn't have one. It even funnier that the thought of moving around furniture nixed the whole thing for them. If only another baby was as easy as moving furniture around. :)
That is a fantastic baby debate. Surprisingly, we are in a baby debate too.... so it may be more than two after all.
So cute! I have the baby debate in my head all the time:)
What a darling conversation!!
Hope you are doing well Kathryn - nice to see you - take care - Kellan
Wonderful.
I love reading your boy's conversations. They are so cute!
ANNNND? ARE YOU?
Hon I know you want a girl!
You need some female hormones
in that house! Yeah! AND the pink dresses, barbie dolls, sparkly shoes, lip gloss and mama drama! Thanks for stopping by my blogs!
Aw, now that's super cute.
When my older grandson was a toddler, my daughter would ask him if he wanted a brother or a sister and he and his dad (now, her ex-husband) would answer in unison, "NO!" Now, that grandson is 10 years old and it is obvious he would love to have a brother or sister now but it appears the endometriosis has won out over that happening. Younger daughter's husband went the "snip-snip" route a little over a year ago because they have two and he already had three others when they married so finances pretty much dictate. My son, it would appear is my only salvation as to acquiring more grandchildren -which I would dearly love -but he doesn't seem to be in a marrying mode any time soon.
If you do have an announcement forthcoming, then congratulations and I'm sure the boys will adjust fine and dandy to whatever comes their way. Little girls do present a whole different set of "issues" though. Just felt the need to warn you of that. LOL
And if this was just a philosophical discussion, it was still a great post to hear your boys thoughts on these things. Love the logic that kids employ.
That was so sweet! Thanks for sharing that conversation. I love the way kids think, too funny. I will say I liked each of their reason for wanting either a boy or girl baby.
Well, whatever they think, I'm sending massive amounts of baby girl dust in your direction!
Ooooh, a girl. She'd be a great addition. And she'd have three big brothers to watch out for her.
I have some great girl clothes to pass on to you!!!
That's so cute about the girl/boy debate... our boys have had that one. I love the way little ones think.
So.... are there more babies coming? Ha!
Brittany
So cute! My daughter kept praying for a pink baby, lol, but God gave her a blue one... :-)
Cute. I love Joey's "just forget it then."
So...ARE you gonna have another baby? ;o)
Very cute!
That's all sorted then!
Came over from David's.
Nice post. Nice blog!
Too sweet. I love kidlet chat. David was his usual wise self in making this his post of the day. :)
so sweet!
Children are a gift from God. Of course, when a couple of mine were teenagers, I started looking for that gift receipt to see if I could make an exchange! ;-) Handle with prayer.
If only they knew the real story! I think you're very brave. And very loving.
CJ xx
Precious -- I don't want another baby. I like the baby we have!
Our guy is only five months old, but we're already thinking. My people are talking to her people. And the little guy is too young to object.
Great post.
I remember my parents asking me if I wanted a new baby. I said yes. After my sister was born I asked when she was going back. My mother used to say I asked for a sister. Dad said I didnt ask, I WAS asked and it sounded good, like a new toy so of course I said yes.
David sent me.

So cute!
We have three boys, 7, 4, and almost 2. We have had this very conversation lately!
Your boys are adorable!
Found you through David.
I love it, yes its only the furniture that make the babies such hard work.
