Next Time I'll Turn On A Light

Why do I always get injured when I can't take pain medication?

I walked into the wall the other night. No lie. I have the egg on my head to prove it. And no, I will not be posting pictures, thankyouverymuch.

Sunday night Tommy woke up at 10:00 because he had to go potty, and as I was ushering him back from the bathroom (in pitch darkness) I walked forcefully right into the door frame. Nice. It made such a loud smack that Todd thought maybe I'd broken something. Nope. Just my head. No need to worry.

Except that it has affected my neck and shoulders too. Last night after taking a shower to loosen up my muscles it actually got worse. I couldn't turn my head to the left side. Nice. But after a rough night's sleep I am feeling a bit better today. Which is great, considering I kinda need to be able to move my head.

I swear I'm not a clumsy person. Really. I guess I just don't have great night vision. Or the ability to judge spacial distances in an area I am very familiar with.

So, a bright side. Let's see. Umm, at least I missed hitting my nose on the door frame because it would have broken for sure. And this nose is already big enough as is. And at least I can arrange my bangs so that the egg doesn't show too much. How is that for a bright side?

Still, next time I think I'll worry less about waking Joey and just leave the damn light on.

  6. Lime- That is a great idea. I was planning on calling my chiro today to try and get in for an adjustment. I haven't been there in a while so it is time to go anyway. :)

  7. Ouch! I've bumped into many things at night...once I knocked a picture off the wall looking for the light switch. Hope you are feeling less stiff soon.

  8. I've done that before, unfortunately. I liked your bright side. And I don't think you have a big nose.

  9. Ouch, this is something I would do, but I am a clumsy person, so it wouldn't be out of the ordinary unfortunately.

I have a feeling the chiropratic appointment will work wonders for you.

  11. Whoa! Girl! I am so sorry! You know.. prego people are clumsier... I can't tell you how many times I fell while prego! Seriously. God has a funny sense of humor- allowing prego women to get hurt, yet unable to take anything for the pain! ah!

  12. Be careful! Hope you are too hurt.

  18. oh sweetie, it's us, you can tell the truth, been hitting the NyQuil again?

    Seriously-- no pictures?

Poor Todd, he's probably afraid to leave you when he goes to work...

I'm sorry, I just keep having Laurel and Hardy images go through my brain and it's really not funny-- you could've broken something and you're pregnant and you haven't been well and your in pain now.
Ok, I'm serious now. I hope the chiropractor can help you out with the neck pain!

  21. I have two words for you.

    Mini.

Ooh, but it sounds like that really hurt! You are such a good Mommy to be the bathroom chaperone. I say, next time let Dad go! ;)

    Feel better! - Julia

  23. Hmmm, that situation sounds embarrassingly familiar. I've done that myself, and quite recently I might add. I hope the chiropractor does you some good. Chiropractors are WONDERFUL!

  24. Ouch. I have the worst night vision too. We have a nice LED blue night light in the bathroom that lights up the hallway too. but not so bright it wakes you completely up.

  25. One never knows what is really happening, when things go BUMP in the night.

So glad that you weren't seriously hurt, which could have happened very easily.

    Take care!

  28. Ouch! Reminds me of when I broke my toe (it really was broken) on my newborn baby's swing a couple of years ago.
Hope you are feeling better soon.

  29. Yikes! That sounds awful. Especially the neck and shoulder pain. I hope that all starts to ease up for you soon. It's tough having a stiff neck with kiddos all day.

  32. Poor sweetness. Is the doc letting you take Motrin? Cause it does help, a little. Be careful. You're gestating in there.

  33. You poor thing! I can relate though - for some reason walls are my nemesis. I always hit them. Even in daylight. What does that say about me? Sigh...

  34. Ooof, Kat, you poor thing. But good thing on missing the nose, that would have been horrible.

We've got one of those glow in the dark night lights in the washroom...cannot live without it.

  37. I seriously don't know what I would do if I had to stop taking Advil. I mean really. I wouldn't last the nine months. I really wouldn't.
