He is less obsessed with birds then he used to be (he becomes obsessed with something - penguins, planes, dinosaurs, birds, etc- learns everything he can and then finds a new obsession) but he still really enjoys bird watching with me. And he always helps me identify them. He knows far more than I do. :)
I am extremely jealous of your photo of that cardinal! I've been trying to get one of the ones we have around here to no avail. And wow, such gorgeous colored birds!!
Sheryl- It was a female goldfinch that was just settling in. She was all smoothed down and then puffed herself up. Isn't it CUTE??
Elaine- I saw a Scarlet Tanager a few weeks ago and have had my camera ready for it ever since. Didn't see it again. I'm so sad. It was GORGEOUS. Also have been waiting for a Brown Thrasher to come back. He was so beautiful but I haven't seen him again. This bird watching (picture taking) can be really frustrating! ;)
CC- Yes, I did! I'm a little frustrated at the goldfinch picture because it is a little fuzzy, but I was far away from it and shooting through my screen door.
Hi :) vibrant is right on the money :) our birds here are mostly just browns blacks and greys... with the odd yellow and orange...well those that i've seen anyways...good job !
I recently purchased a camera that came with a lens, and another stronger lens. I'll be glad when I learn how to use it all, effectively, so that I can catch some bird pics too. My goal is to enlarge nature pictures for my den/office walls. A cardinal is on my list!
I am so clueless about birds, I just hear them singing in my backyard all the time. When we go up to the cottage, my father in law keeps a bird encyclopedia next to his binoculars and he's quiet serious about it, but aside from the robin who has befriended our dogs, I'll just have to admire yours!
Wowie zowie...nice ones. Does your boy like these?

ReplyDeleteOh that goldfinch is adorable! Do you think it is a baby? It looks much fluffier than the ones we have in our yard.
